GF, did you read that entire link?
Okay, the author says that the official count is about 30 dead, but the unofficial count is 300,000 - 400,000 dead. But even that figure seems completely ridiculously low.
The account of Chernobyl and the 1986 accident and the fall-out, and the decaying villages and cities and the exploding wildlife population is astounding. '
Mesmorizing.
Almost too much to take in.
She travels mostly alone on a Motorcycle recording the pathos, the despair, the loss and the new beauty of the WolvesLand, or the fall-out area devastated by Chernobyl. Oh, the photographs and the photography accompanied by her monologue of history and pespective is UNBELIEVABLE.
Anyone interested in what happened in Chernobyl in 1986 and what it all looks like will want to spend time reading her website.
Thanks for that.

Many times over the years. That site is not new. Pretty amazing, eh?
What's REALLY cool is what she is doing now - she makes these forays into the dead zone to take food to the people who still live there.

What is amazing is that anyone really does live there. I'd think there'd be a whole sub-culture of peoples living in some of those places freed up from the tryanny of the modern world. Like a subverted fairyland. I got as far as 2007 and to 2008, but had to stop. It's too much to take in all at once.
Her photography makes my want to cry, it's so insightful. Like no detail too small to leave out.
The land reclaimation reminds me of what we saw in the Urban Farm documentary of what is happening in Detroit, with land being reclaimed by reforestation and wildlife right in what is the urban cityscapes. No nuclear fall out but almost the same.

There's pics of some of the people who are still living there. Mostly they are old folks who refused to leave their homes, I think.

Dont forget the thousands of children born with missing limbs (mostly the right arm I think) from Chernobyl radiation. Japan is in for trouble.

Sheep that were formly too radioactive for human consumption can be eaten by people now, only over 370 farms still affected in the UK.

Re: Remember what CBC's Gloria Macarenko said on Day 1 Fukus
I want to know why Gloria Macarenko said '33 people died from Chernobyl'
when that is a lie.
I want to know why gloria Macarenko said Fukushima is the worst nuclear accident
since Chernobyl when the truth is - Fukushima is ten times worse than chernobyl.
why does the media outright lie to us?
Anyone know the answer?
