Correction - 32 people were killed by people shooting bullets from guns today in America. No, not hilarious - but one must consider the mental health of the people who did the shooting. One must also consider if the shooters were criminals already because they will not be registering any guns and will be obtaining guns illegally - no matter what controls the government decides to put in place. It will do nothing to stop the shootings. Chicago is proof of that but, of course, the gun control freeks don't want to talk about Chicago.

Take that sweet young girl who was shot in the park 3 blocks from her school. The one who was so brilliant and had such promise - the one who was an entertainer at Obama's inauguration recently. The one who was standing in the midst of known gang members when the shooter fired his gun into the group of gangsters. The one who got left there while the rest of them scattered because the police were coming and they didn't want to get caught. She ran, too, but she didn't get very far. Funny how the gun-grabbing media just bled all over our keyboards without mentioning her true situation, isn't it?

As one NRA advocate stated regarding limited capacity magazines “maybe mom might have needed more than six shots to protect her children”. Hmmmm. Maybe mom wouldn’t have needed a gun at all if there were better background checks being conducted. As the Vermont representative pointed out, "I live an hour from Canada and they just don’t have these problems".

I guess Americans don't know much outside their own country because every country on earth also has these problems. The Dawson College shooting didn't happen that far away from Vermont.

If we use the things criminals do as a reason not to enact any type of control over anything, we'd never have any laws at all. Why have drunk driving laws as sober people don't break them?

While true, the degree of the problem is far larger in the US than most other 1st world countries. As long as there are guns, there will always be some gun deaths. It's the degree of how many there are in the US that is the issue.

Seattle Gun BuyBack Gets JACKED! Turns Into a Damn Gun Show! LOL

Police officers in Seattle, Washington held their first gun buyback program in 20 years this weekend, underneath interstate 5, and soon found that private gun collectors were working the large crowd as little makeshift gun shows began dotting the parking lot and sidewalks. Some even had “cash for guns” signs prominently displayed.

Police stood in awe as gun enthusiasts and collectors waved wads of cash for the guns being held by those standing in line for the buyback program.

People that had arrived to trade in their weapons for $100 or $200 BuyBack gift cards($100 for handguns, shotguns and rifles, and $200 for assault weapons) soon realized that gun collectors were there and paying top dollar for collectible firearms. So, as the line for the chump cards got longer and longer people began to jump ship and head over to the dealers.

John Diaz, Seattles Police Chief, wasn’t pleased with the turn of events stating “I’d prefer they wouldn’t sell them,” but admitted it’s perfectly legal for private individuals to buy and sell guns, FOR NOW. Mayor Mike McGinn said at a news conference the private transactions are a loophole that needs to be closed. “There’s no background checks, and some (guns) could be exchanged on the streets that shouldn’t be in circulation.”

But Schuyler Taylor, a previous gun retailer attending the event in hopes of buying weapons, asked “Why not offer them cash versus a gift card? I’m still taking the guns off the streets; they’re just going in my safe.”

People were reportedly, at one point, jumping out of vehicles whilst sitting in traffic – making on the spot deals with the gun buyers.

But the BuyBack wasn’t a bust. On the contrary – their $80,000 supply of gift cards didn’t last but 2 hours, and by 11:00 am they began attempting to issue IOU’s at which point the entire crowd responded by turning and marching toward the gun dealers, forcing the police officers to pack it up for the day.

On one last note of hilarity, the Seattle Police department claims that they will check the buyback guns to see if any were previously stolen and, if so, try to return them to the rightful owners! LOL. Brilliant!

In 1992, Seattle police collected more than 1,200 guns in a four-day buyback program.

Now the only question is, when will the Seattle Police department stage the next gun show?

In Europe, fewer mass killings due to culture not guns.

The USA leads the world in gun ownership, but it's our individualistic culture that puts us at greater risk of mass shootings compared with other countries where guns are prevalent, according to a British criminologist who has studied gun violence in different nations.

Mass shooters in any nation tend to be loners with not much social support who strike out at their communities, schools and families, says Peter Squires of the University of Brighton in the United Kingdom, who has studied mass shootings in his own country, the United States and Europe.

Many other countries where gun ownership is high, such as Norway, Finland, Switzerland and Israel, however, tend to have more tight-knit societies where a strong social bond supports people through crises, and mass killings are fewer, Squires said.

AR-15s are easy to get here too, although I notice the local gun store hasn't been able to keep them on the shelf lately. For some reason everyone wants one all of a sudden.
