They keep sayin' police sent food & stuff through the underground chamber's vent. Why on earth don't they inject a gas that would make the sequestrator & child sleep... then get in the bunker, save the child and arrest the guy.

You would have to inject enough gas fast enough to knock out a man without hurting a child, that acts fast enough to knock them out before he knows whats happening and reacts, is odour/colourless and is able to fill the area, including any leaks, fast enough to do all this.

Good luck finding such a chemical.

Of course, why didn't they think of that! If only it worked like the movies.
