Unless he walks up to a police station stark naked with his hands in the air, they'd shoot him and say something like "it looked like he was reaching for a gun" or "it looked like he might have a bomb". Such things have happened to people that weren't suspected cop killers, so it's not a very big stretch to imagine it happening to this guy.

If you go to the LAPD webpage and look under the "Murder Cover Ups" heading, there is a clear list of all the murders and dirty cop situations that the LAPD have covered up along with contact numbers and current addresses of the people living free and clear thanks to the cover ups.
