The same reasoning has to asked about those that build/live on earthquake prone areas like LA or Japan. OR Tornado prone areas like Kansas......etc., etc. The last time that volcano erupted was in the 1500s. Good wine making grapes grow in volcanic soil.

W84, you make a good point, I guess volcanoes scare me more, but earthquakes are more disruptive when we look at the destruction overall.

Difference from the 1500s is that now they all have iphones and other recording devices.

Doesn't seem too much information on a list of volcanoes erupting in a day (year but not day) but haven't gone through this site yet:

Wouldn't five be remarkable by any standard?

There are 8 then? That is astounding. Three days before the Inauguration, coincidence?

I think we need to throw a sacrifice into one to save the World!

I offer Donald Trump to appease the Volcano Gods.

(Yes, I liked it. For those about to be outraged: no, I didn't for a moment think Bsuds was seriously suggesting what you're going to suggest he was suggesting.)

:topic: Historically, how common is it to have this many volcanoes erupting at the same time?
