389 missing tourists? By "missing" you mean they were the ones who refused to leave?

Any up date as to their status by now?

Yellow alert! Strongest earthquakes around Katla volcano in a series of tremors

The Icelandic Met Office has raised the level of warning from green to yellow because of the recent earthquakes around volcano Katla. Green means that the volcano is an active one but shows no signs of a impending eruption, Yellow means that the activity is greater than normal and possibility of eruption is uncertain. They go on to say that there is yet no way to predict a volcanic eruption, but the activity is strong. Police in the south district are combing the surrounding area to make sure no one is there that doesn’t belong there like tourists or travellers. Katla has ben stirring for the past few weeks, but the tremors today are the biggest so far.

Only thing I can find....

Jakarta: Indonesian rescuers on Wednesday evacuated hundreds of tourists from a volcano that erupted a day earlier and were searching for as many as 50 climbers.Authorities closed the gates to Mount Rinjani, one of Indonesia's most visited active volcanoes on the resort island of Lombok, next to Bali, and told visitors to keep at least three km away. The erupting cone is called Barujari, a volcano within Mount Rinjani. The Disaster Mitigation Agency said 1,023 tourists, including 639 foreigners, were in Mount Rinjani National Park when the volcano erupted on Tuesday afternoon, coating nearby vegetation with ash."Hundreds of tourists have exited Mount Rinjani and they are in good condition," spokesman Sutopo Purwo Nugroho said on Wednesday.Daniel Rosang, an official at the park, said he estimated there.

Here it is! Thanks for the heads up!

Jalisco State, Colima volcano

The activity has strongly increased over the past 48 hours: constant explosions generate a heavy steam and ash plume rising at least 2 km from the crater while the new lava dome continues to over-spill the southwestern crater rim and descends as a wide, viscous lava flow now half way down the steep cone.

Japan's Mount Aso volcano erupts

Mount Aso in southern Japan erupted early Saturday belching a column of ash several thousand metres (feet) into the air, the latest eruption in one of the world's most volcanically active countries.

Japan Meteorological Agency issued its third-highest alert, warning people not to approach the volcano after it rumbled to life at 1:56 am (1646 GMT Friday).

The meteorologists warned of a heavy ash fall within 30 kilometres (19 miles) northeast of the mountain, with moderate and light ash falls forecast up to 250 kilometres away over the next few hours.

After NZ Megaquake, enhanced volcanic activity around the world: Frosty, Kilauea, Colima, Santiaguito, Sabancaya

Is it linked or not? Is the Megaquake in New Zealand playing a role in the current enhanced volcanic activity recorded around the world?
Probably not, but it’s part of the whole geological change, the Earth changes, that are currently underway.

Great find! Lots are re awaking.....

Is the SUPERVOLCANO under Naples about to blow? Campi Flegrei crater shows signs of 'reawakening'

Simmering volcano may be nearing a critical pressure point, warn experts
But they say is not possible to accurately predict an eruption at this time
An eruption could prove deadly for the half million people in the area
It could dwarf the devastation caused by Mount Vesuvius on the other side of Naples, which buried several settlements including Pompeii 2,000 years ago

I can't recall when my interest in volcanoes, or all things geologic, started but I do recall watching lava flowing on a newscast.

Too young to know if it was footage in Italy or Hawaii.
