Trump wants see-through border wall so agents don't get hit by 60-pound 'sacks of drugs'

Image

President Trump said he wants his proposed border wall with Mexico to be see-through so that border agents don't get hit with "large sacks of drugs" being thrown over the wall.

"You have to be able to see through it," Trump said of the wall he's promised to build. "In other words, if you can't see through that wall—so it could be a steel wall with openings, but you have to have openings because you have to see what's on the other side of the wall.

Border Patrol union chief praises 'miraculous' drop in illegal immigration under Trump

The significant downturn in the number of illegal border crossers between the U.S. and Mexico is "nothing short of miraculous," National Border Patrol Council President Brandon Judd said on C-SPAN Monday.

"As far as the Trump administration's efforts on immigration, this is something they campaigned heavily on," he said. "At six months, where we are on meeting those promises, we are seeing nothing short of miraculous. If you look at the rhetoric that President Trump has given, it has caused a number of illegal border crossings to go down. We have never seen such a drop that we currently have."

Even towns are building walls.... :smt045

Back to the city states....

The French Government Built A Migrant Shelter In This Small Town – Residents Responded By Building A Wall Around It

Protesters in a town in southwest France have built a nearly-two-metre-high wall around the entrance to a disused hotel to try to prevent it being turned into a migrant shelter.

Working under cover of darkness, a few dozen residents of Semeac in the Pyrenees mountains erected a wall 18 metres (60 feet) long and 1.8 metres high barring access to the Formule 1 hotel, a spokesman for the group confirmed.

“We not against taking in migrants,” Laurent Teixeira told AFP. “But you have to take account of the citizens.”

Yes there are bad people. there always will be bad people.
But thinking of a time where every country is hidden behind a wall and in isolation, and in constant fear of any other ethnic group.

That makes for a pretty dim picture of a 'better' future' to my mind.

The wall keeps bad people out and good people fly over the wall legally via Air Canada. No country is hidden behind a wall. Like saying your hidden behind the walls of your house. It's for protection. Should fear people who want to do things the illegal way.

Add Turkey to the growing list of countries building border walls....

Turkey starts building wall on Iran border

Turkey has begun construction of a wall along the border with Iran in a bid to crack down on smuggling and terrorism, following the building of a similar barrier already standing on the border with Syria.

Suleyman Elban, the governor of Agri province, visited the wall on Tuesday together with a local police chief and gendarmerie commander before meeting with the area’s border guards, the Dogan news agency reported.

The 2-meter-wide, 3-meter-high barrier is being built out of portable blocks and is aimed at boosting Turkey’s security by keeping out smugglers and stopping infiltration by Kurdish militants.

Hungary Builds A Wall, Cuts Illegal Immigration By Over 99%

Hungary has slashed illegal immigration by over 99 per cent after rolling out a series of powerful border fences in response to the European migrant crisis, possibly providing a lesson as to the potential impact of constructing President Trump’s much-discussed southern wall in the U.S.

Speaking on the second anniversary of the government’s move to seal Hungary’s border with Serbia - which is also an external border for the European Union - Prime Minister Viktor Orbán’s Chief Security Advisor, György Bakondi, announced that the fences have caused illegal immigration to collapse from 391,000 in 2015, to 18,236 in 2016, to just 1,184 in 2017.

“The system of technical barriers is the key to the success of border security, and without it, it would be impossible to stop the mass arrival of immigrants”, the security chief explained.

Do you remember when the Berlin Wall was finally dismantled and east and west Germany were reunited? The joy, the partying, tearful family reunifications, the freedom of it all !

Now walls are popping up along borders not to keep people IN as the Berlin Wall was intended, but to keep people OUT.

Who would have guessed this 40 years ago?

Sad times indeed. This trend toward thinking populism and nationalism is some kind of solution or desirable alternative is a very real threat to the global economy and to geo-political stability. We are living in very interesting times.
