I say go ahead and build the wall. The wall is intended to keep out illegal immigrants, legal immigrants can come right in through the front door, so a wall doesn't matter to them. Build one on the Canadian border if you like, who cares.. Objecting to a wall is paramount to a drug dealer saying he objects to stricter penalties for trafficking. If your not a drug dealer what do you care, in fact you should probably be happy about it.

If you read my postings, lots of U.S. Presidents were going to build walls including Bush and Obama to control the flow of migrants..... and make them line up like the legal ones do.

HUNDREDS OF THOUSANDS OF AFRICAN MUSLIM MIGRANTS IN TIJUANA HEADING FOR THE U.S.

Wave of migrants overwhelms Tijuana
Many are from Africa and seek refugee status in the U.S.

While the Mexican migrants remain the most numerous at 60%, the number of people from African countries such as Eritrea, Somalia, Ghana, Ethiopia, and Congo is increasing. Many were attracted to Brazil during its economic boom but after its economy began to go south immigrants wondering where to go next found it easier to pursue refugee status from the United states than to return to their countries of origin.

Another border wall going up!

Lithuania plans to build 45-km fence along border with Russia

"It will be a 2.5-meter-high wire fence equipped with electronic control devices," Lithuania’s border chief Renatas Pozela said

VILNIUS, January 15. /TASS/. Lithuania plans to build a 45-kilometer fence along the border with Russia’s westernmost Kaliningrad region, Lithuania’s border chief said on Sunday.

"The length of the most problem-plagued section of the border with the Kaliningrad region is 130 kilometers. It is planned to build 45-kilometer fencing at its land sections," Renatas Pozela, the head of Lithuania’s State Border Guard Service, told national television.

He said the measure is meant to improve protection of the state border of Lithuania and hence the European Union’s outer borders.

"It will be a 2.5-meter-high wire fence equipped with electronic control devices," Pozela said.

A sum of 3.6 million euro is provided in Lithuania’s 2017 state budget to fund the construction of such fencing. Lithuania’s authorities say the construction of this fence is meant to protect the country’s economic interests and enhance its security.

The length of the Lithuanian-Russian border [Lithuania borders Russia’s Kaliningrad region] is 294.4 kilometers, including 253.7 kilometers of land and inland water bodies, 18.5 kilometers of the Curonian lagoon, and 22.2 kilometers of the Baltic Sea.

We need a wall between Canada and USA with strict vetting of Americans to ensure no Trump supporters sneak in illegally.

Latvia completes 23km of ‘anti-migrant wall’ on Russian border

Baltic states continue bolstering their frontiers with Latvia reporting the competition of the first 23km segment of a wire fence on its 276km border with Russia, designed to prevent “illegal immigrants” from breaching the perimeter.

Latvia’s fence construction began in 2015 and the first 23km section is ready, according to local media reports, citing State Border Guards spokeswoman Evgeniya Poznyak. The Latvian government has allocated an additional €6.3 million on the construction and is seeking to build 60km of fence in 2017.

I'm trying to wrap my head around this wall issue. Borders between countries aren't anything new - I would hazard a guess that the majority of nations that have had a relatively stable border with another country for at least, like, 75 years probably has a barrier of some sort between the two nations.

Most of the habitable stretches of land between the US and Mexico already has a border, same deal with the US and Canada. Hell, France used to have the Maginot Line across it's borders with Germany, because these barriers used to be used defensively in war as well as controlled access during peacetime. This is why nations typically have "choke-points" or authorized border crossing checkpoints, like the Peace-Arch Border Crossing and others.

I've said over and again that this issue is only an issue because Trump made it one. He's going to extend it through private property and uninhabited stretches of land. He'll probably "make it yuge" and enhance it in spots.

I'd personally like to see how many people actually sneak across the border. I would suspect that the majority of illegal immigrants in the US are people who simply overstayed their visas and never left, or attended the US on a connecting flight and never continued on.

If the U.S. has a problem with illegals crossing it's borders, then it has every right to build a wall to keep them out.

As illegal immigrants are often taken advantage of by unscrupulous employers, its not in their own interests to enter the States in that way. Far better to do it "right" and come in legally.

Legal immigrants can get better jobs, at better pay and are not considered as big of a "threat" to resident workers in the same way that illegals are. Therefore, ensuring that all immigrants are legal, also helps with race relations as well.

I'm not sure why so many in these forums are advocating continuing to allow a large influx of illegals. It doesn't make any sense.

Hungary Builds Border Fence Able to Electrocute Refugees

Hungary is building a large new barrier capable of delivering electric shocks to unwanted refugees and migrants and armed with heat sensors, cameras, and loudspeakers that blare in several languages, along its southern border.

The country was a main crossing point for hundreds of thousands of people trekking into Europe at the height of the migrant crisis in 2015.

“Attention, attention. I’m warning you that you are at the Hungarian border,” the loudspeakers say in English, Arabic and Farsi.

“If you damage the fence, cross illegally, or attempt to cross, it’s counted to be a crime in Hungary. I’m warning you to hold back from committing this crime. You can submit your asylum application at the transit zone.”

Only 10 kilometres of the new structure has been completed but officials say the remaining 140 kilometres (along the border with Serbia will be finished in just two months, built largely by 700 prison inmates. (President Trump take note...)

How are those open borders working?

Mexico's next to build a wall?

Now Mexico wants to build a border wall with Central America to keep out illegal immigrants from El Salvador, Honduras and Guatemala

Mexicans are calling for the border wall to keep out Guatemalans, Salvadorans and Hondurans fleeing violence
They complain 'hordes' of immigrants are flooding the country on the way to the US - who then deport them back to Mexico
Mexican newspaper El Mañana published article: 'Yes to the Border Wall … but in Mexico's South'
'Trump's idea of a border wall is a good one but it should be on the southern border with Central America,' the El Mañana board wrote
