Enbridge in trouble again

Post by hobbyguy »

http://www.cbc.ca/news/canada/calgary/north-dakota-access-pipeline-violence-1.3748066

The video coverage of this incident I saw today, and the story from the reporter who was there, indicates that it was the "private security guards" that sent the dogs after these people and initiated the violence, including using pepper spray. Plus the sheriff who's jurisdiction it is knew of the situation but did not send anyone.

The court decision on these lands is due next Friday, and the pipeline consortium had a representative at the initial hearings, and so knew exactly where the alleged cultural sites were located. So they send in "security guards" with dogs and pepper spray and some heavy equipment and dig up the sites on a long weekend (when they don't normally work).

Whether or not the alleged cultural sites were or were not legitimate, and whether or not a stop work should be put in place was before the courts. Doing this kind of thing simply shows that these pipeline idiots don't respect anything, not the law, not culture, not the environment.

As far as I am concerned the employees of the pipeline and the managers and directors of this consortium should be thrown in jail for contempt of court.

Whether or not the Sioux protester acted properly is not relevant to the fact that this pipeline consortium acted improperly and in contempt of the court process.

Enbridge and its partners lose in the court of public opinion - again.

Iam of the total opposite opinion.the pipeline people were doing nothing wrong here and as usual because Natives seem to able to break laws with no consequences they went ahead and started trouble
second off what were these Natives doing bringing little children to what they knew would be violent protest

I would disagree. Pipeline companies have been trampling over ranchers in the area and anyone else who happens to get in the way.

And they do so in a very despicable manner: http://finance.yahoo.com/news/u-court-expected-decide-whether-175524369.html

"The weekend protests were triggered, the tribes said, when the pipeline company used bulldozers on Saturday to destroy sacred tribal sites whose locations had been identified in court documents filed on Friday."

Instead of waiting for the court decision, the pipeline consortium hired "private security" (paid thugs?) and bulldozed those identified sites before the court case could be concluded.

http://www.truth-out.org/news/item/37222-lakota-lead-native-americans-ranchers-and-farmers-in-fight-against-dakota-access-pipeline

"In particular, Locke noted, the Dakota Access Pipeline plan violates the treaty rights of the Great Sioux Nation, of which the Standing Rock Sioux Tribe is a part.

"All permits have been granted," she said. "It really shows that the government can be bought out. They are not acknowledging that this is treaty land and it belongs to the Lakota/Dakota People according to the 1868 Fort Laramie Treaty."

It is not just aboriginal groups that are fighting pipelines:

Maybe, just maybe, dontrump, you can identify with that fellow who fought pipelines.

Just what right does a private company have to plow through the land owned by someone else?? Just because they more money? More political pull? Horsefeathers!
