The Act created the following chart. The highest tax bracket is $500,000 for single people and $600,000 for married couples. In 2018, they pay a 37 percent rate after exemptions and deductions. That's lower than the 2017 rate of 39.6 percent.

Clearly rates are lower in 2018 for anyone making over $9,525, and the same as 2017 if you made less. You are being lied to by your echo-chamber. I don't know how many times this has to happen for you to start to question the giant river of *bleep* that you are swallowing from these people, but it is what it is.

Here I'll help you out with the nuances of some of the US tax code.

I guess if you just look at the numbers yeah they went down for the low and middle class but you got your blinders on if you think Trump's tax cuts were for them. It was for the companies and the wealthy like it always is for CONservatives.

The Tax Act is so complex it affects each family differently depending on their personal situation. Here is a broad description of how it might affect the following seven groups:

High Income: If you have a very high income, the tax plan helps you the most. The Tax Foundation said those who earn more than 95 percent of the population would receive a 2.2 percent increase in after-tax income.  Those in the 20 to 80 percent range would receive a 1.7 percent increase. The Tax Policy Center said those in bottom 20 percent would only receive a 0.4 percent increase.

Heirs to Wealth: If you inherit a lot of money, the larger exemption for the estate tax will benefit you.

Few Deductions: If your itemized deductions are less than the new standard deduction, you win on two levels. First, the larger standard deduction will reduce your taxes. Second, you can skip the complicated process of itemizing. That not only saves you time but also money if you no longer need to pay a tax advisor.

Large Families: You may be hurt by the elimination of personal exemptions. The higher credits for children and elderly dependents may not be enough to offset that loss.

Homeowners: If take out a new home equity line of credit, you can only deduct the mortgage interest if you use it to buy or improve a home. If you take out a new mortgage or refinance an existing one, you can only deduct the interest up to the limit. If you live in a state with high property taxes, you can only deduct the first $10,000.

Young People: Since young people are generally healthier, they are more likely to benefit from the elimination of the Obamacare tax.

Self-employed: If you are a 1099 contractor, own your own business, or are self-employed, you may benefit from the 20 percent deduction on qualified income.

Now that this Russia nonsense is exposed for a political con-job, what are the Democrats going to offer the American public in terms of a actual platform?

They won't change their platform because they are running under that same neoliberal Obama/Hillary type government where they jerk-off bankers and Wall Street types while saying nice things about gays and brown people.

The Democrats are also attacking everyone on the left of their corporate-platform. People like Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez, Bernie Sanders and Tulsi Gabbard are toxic to the main Democratic party and the party is working hard to hamstring them.

So what's the plan Democrats?

Ban cows, ban planes, ban nuclear, ban banks, ban wealth. And watch a base just as dumb as Trump's applaud and cheer.

US reaches new record debt levels under Trump

https://www.dailykos.com/story/2019/2/1 ... 2-trillion

the national debt is back in the news today because it just rolled over to a new record number: $22 trillion. That's over $2 trillion added since Trump's inaugural parade. That seems like a lot!

Donald Trump, however, is unconcerned. Which is odd, because back when Barack Obama was president, Donald was extremely animated about the dangers of the thing no Republican now gives a flying damn about.

I realize that Trump is being extremely hypocritical here, and of course left websites like Daily Kos will eat it up, but I am curious as to why no other world leader, like say for instance, the dufus currently serving as the PM of Canada, is facing any criticism for their reckless spending. I guess it's just Trump who gets pilloried for it. Got it.

Random Thought of the Day
Bill Gates sounds a lot like Howard Schultz and Warren Buffett when he recently said he should pay higher taxes and didn’t deserve his wealth, but I notice none of them are writing additional checks to the government. Gates was very anti-government in the 1990s when Bill Clinton’s Justice Department was hitting Microsoft with antitrust action. He’s finally learned like other billionaires if you spout Socialist talking points and contribute to all the right liberal politicians, you’ll be left alone to practice capitalism and use every tax break in the books to compound your wealth.

Can you post the link that you determined that from? The Mueller report hasn't been released yet and there's a heck of a lot of people in jail and $$$ recovered from that investigation already. Sounds more like criminal conspiracy than political con job to me.

I'll comment of the Democratic platform in another thread, the topic of this one is Trump.

The thing is.....2 Trillion is not the same as 17 Billion dollars....see the difference? That's adding 10% GDP as debt in 2 years. JT can't come close to that even if he spent hundred times more than he is now.

Yes. I just find it hilarious that the same people screaming about Trump's spending are cheering on the reckless spending of others. The hypocrisy is just so acute, it's amazing.
