Do our Weapons Mass Destruction go bad if not used?

Post by Thinktank »

Do our Weapons Mass Destruction go bad if not used before expiration date?

I'm thinking that's why Trump is blowing stuff up, because those cruise missiles will
soon be past the expiration date, and then they'd be worthless anyway. At leas this
way we can put some fear into those people sitting on land that could be useful for building
our pipelines.

Maybe because they're becoming cost obsolete.
That moab cost 16 million and took out 94 doods.
That's 170k per dood.
An ak47 round is 28 cents.

Or... maybe it's big arms companies, lobbiests, cronieism and no bid govt contracts.
There's a lot of money made every time something expensive explodes.

If it was me that had to take the ak into the tunnel that was mined and guarded by nasty guys with RPGs and heavy machine guns I think I would ask "You only gonna drop one ?".

I'm sure we could start a list but we might end up with worse replacements.

Yep. Now looking for a shot at bidding on those contracts for building our pipelines on those plots of land cleared in Syria and Afghanistan. Smart thing to use those weapons before they expired. NAFTA says we should be able to compete with American and Mexican companies for supply and install.

And nukes could be deployed in similar ways.

In Russia there was Project 7, " . . . applications studied with nuclear explosions included oil and gas stimulation . . ., (http://www.bibliotecapleyades.net/cienc ... nium27.htm)."

And, although I wouldn't want to give 'you know who' any ideas for Canada, there was Project Cauldron, a proposal to use nukes to heat the oilsands to extract the oil, (http://history.alberta.ca/energyheritag ... -sand.aspx)."

Also, don't tell 'you know who' how 'Cauldron,' was actually a process envisioned by an American when he was in the Middle East.

Rubber and plastic parts are actively replaced over time. So yes, they do have a shelf life if not maintained... not sure what the shelf life is.

And DIY upgrades:

The US's Massive Ordnance Air Blast bomb does not cost $314 million, or $16 million, but $170,000 a unit, the US Air Force told Business Insider on Friday.

The weapon, whose acronym inspired the nickname "Mother of All Bombs," was produced by the Air Force, not by a third party like Lockheed or Boeing, "so we don't have a standard procurement cost associated with them," an Air Force official said.

The $170,000 figure makes sense considering a general-purpose 1,000-pound MK-83 costs about $12,000. The MOAB simply features more high explosives and larger fins to direct the GPS-guided munition.
