Grinnell College awards a $100,000 prize each year to an “Innovator for Social Justice,” and recently began accepting nominations for the 2018 recipient.
The "Innovator for Social Justice Prize" is the largest award given by a U.S. college for efforts to promote social justice, and has disbursed at least $1.5 million since 2011.

How did American college campuses get to the point where all of the ills of Western Civilization are blamed on white male students?

Scott Greer, author of “No Campus for White Men,” recently told national talk-radio host Laura Ingraham the problem is widespread.

“It doesn’t matter where you go,” he said. “You can be going to a conservative, red state public university or you could be going to Oberlin, and you’re going to be hearing this dogma repeated throughout, that all whites, no matter their background, beliefs, or when their ancestors came here, they’re all responsible for every evil that has ever been committed by Europeans.”

Greer said the idea is “drilled into their heads not only in class, but it’s drilled in at orientation, in their social settings.”

But racial tension is not the only problem on campus. Young white men also must careful about how they act around women, lest they end up being accused of rape, Greer said.

“Due to the Obama administration in 2011 telling schools to use a lower standard of evidence when deciding these cases [of alleged rape], it has led to dozens if not hundreds of young men getting kicked out of school over false rape accusations,” he said.

Greer said the whole purpose of higher education has shifted.

Officials at the University of Missouri’s flagship campus in Columbia have finally rid themselves of the administrator and the professor who physically and verbally attacked student journalists during the eruption of Black Lives Matter protests that rocked the school’s campus in November 2015.

The firing of both taxpayer-funded employees — mass communication professor Melissa Click and senior associate director for Greek life Janna Basler — took 20 months.

Basler, the Greek life director, shoved up against a lone student photographer Tim Tai as he attempted to capture images for a local newspaper.

Scuttlebutt about Basler’s employment status began earlier this month when Mizzou officials announced approximately 400 layoffs in the face of massive state budget cuts and a huge plunge in student enrollment. University of Georgia Professor Allows Students to Choose Own Grades to Avoid Undue Stress

A professor at the University of Georgia is implementing a so-called “stress reduction policy” that allows his students to choose their own grades and opt out of group assignments “in order to avoid” any “emotional reactions to stressful situations.”

Business professor Rick Watson is asking his “MIST4610 Data Management” students to email him if they "feel unduly stressed by a grade." According to his policy, he is offering students the opportunity to email him the grade they feel they deserve -- "and it will be so changed," no questions asked.

When it comes to group assignments, if a student feels stressed by the “dynamics” of a group, that person can outright leave and opt out of group work altogether, teaching our future generation of workers how not to deal with difficult situations or people they share disagreements with.

News flash: You’re not going to get along with every person you work with, nor every person you meet. That's life.

Watson is also letting his students use their books and notes for tests and exams which are “designed to assess low mastery of the course material.”

University is said to be the best years of your life, which may be the case for some, especially the athletes, but for the majority it's brutal. I always found school easy and it wasn't until University that I learned what hard work and being overwhelmed meant. It was a constant struggle between social life, studying and work to pay for it all that left me physically and mentally exhausted 90% of the time.

Then there was the competition, most people who make it into University dont simply buy their way in so they're smart and diligent, nothing like the highschool equivalent I had grown used to. The inability to deal with all this is what thinned the herd so that those who came out the other end with a degree actually had something to be proud of and produced grads that the business community sought after.

It may make the school more money by keeping weaker students around but all they're doing is reducing the value of what everyone went to achieve in the first place. Not sure why this would be a left versus right thing however because I think most of us can agree this school is taking the wrong approach.

Evergreen State College Announces Layoffs Due to Drop in Enrollment



Shockingly, world famous Evergreen State College is having trouble getting out of state students to enroll at their college.

From The College Fix:

Administrators at The Evergreen State College have announced that the embattled school faces a massive $2.1 million budget shortfall due in part to a drop in enrollment, and the institution has already handed out some temporary layoff notices as officials grapple with balancing the books.

In an Aug. 28 memo to the campus community titled "Enrollment and Budget Update," officials report that fall 2017-18 registration is down about 5 percent, from 3,922 students to 3,713. But the problem is nearly all of the students they lost are nonresidents, who traditionally pay a much higher tuition to attend, officials explained in the memo, a copy of which was obtained by The College Fix.

Enrollment drops at schools known for ‘social justice warfare’

Universities known for being hotbeds of campus protest and liberal activism are struggling with declining enrollments and budget shortfalls, and higher education analysts say that’s no coincidence.

Take Oberlin College. According to a document leaked to The Oberlin Review, the school’s student newspaper, the small liberal arts college famous for social justice hoaxes has had trouble attracting and retaining students, missing this year’s enrollment mark by 80 and racking up a $5 million budget deficit in the process.

William A. Jacobson, a professor at Cornell Law School who runs the Legal Insurrection blog, said the “most obvious culprit” in Oberlin’s dwindling admissions is “relentless social justice warfare.”

“Social justice warfare at Oberlin has been more intense and sustained over a longer period of time than at most schools, and has come to define Oberlin in the media,” Mr. Jacobson said. “The resulting mockery and derision, even in liberal publications, has damaged the Oberlin brand.”
