Ptolemy was a Greek Roman citizen who worked and studied at the Great Library in Alexandria Egypt.
In 150 AD he published the first World Atlas called "Geographia".
It was 8 volumes in total of hand made maps of his own and others.
This map is included in there volumes and originals are now housed in the British Museum and the New York Public Library.
