Trump himself asked for a bi-partisan solution to the issue. When they brought one to him, he refused to sign it. Even the Republicans are saying that can't negotiate properly because they don't know from day to day what Trump wants.
He's in so far over his head these days that he's flip-flopping like a fish. No leadership whatsoever.

Seems like things are working now and it was a bipartisan vote to get it working. If he asked for bipartisanship and there is a bipartisan vote is that not what he asked for? The first one wasn't good enough and the next one was. Sounds like good leadership to get the best deal and not give in to the minority.

He originally told the two sides to work out an agreement and he would sign whatever they came up with. They thought they had worked out a fair compromise and then Trump refused to sign. He sent his people back to table without telling them what he wanted. You could really feel the frustration on the part of the republicans when they were trying to figure out what direction Trump was going in.
He doesn’t have enough of a grasp on how government and politics works. He should sit in the corner and play on his phone and let people who know what they’re doing handle things.

Trump is the first president to control both houses and still end up with a government shutdown. And this from a man who ran on a platform of being able to make deals.

Art of the deal indeed. What an imbecile.

The GOP's version of the shut down was a complete lie.

Thier first talking point is that the Dems are responsible for the shut down. The reality is a Democrat, Missouri Sen. Claire McCaskill, asked to out to a vote on the floor, that they keep the government running or an additional day to continue working on a solution. Mitch denied that it even be put to a vote. So if facts matter, Republicans shut the government down.

Second talking point was that the democrats have chosen to let the military go unpaid for the sake of daca. The reality is another Democratic senator asked to put to a vote on the floor, that during the shut down the military continues to be paid. Mitch once again denied to even put this to a vote. So if facts matter, the GOP turned its back on military families, not Democrats.

It's the same old story, if you want to know what the Republicans are guilty of, simply listen to what they're accusing the Democrats of.

Appears it will get done despite the Dems causing the original impasse.

Democratic leaders have dropped their strategy of using the funding fight to extract concessions on immigration, specifically on seeking extended protections for the "Dreamer" immigrants who have lived in the country illegally since they were children. Instead, the Democrats prepared to cut a deal that would reap tens of billions of dollars for other priorities — including combatting opioids — while taking their chances on solving the immigration impasse later.

Not so fast. Rand Paul thinking he is Mr Smith (Jimmy Stewart). As bad as everyone thinks Trump is this idiot would have been worse.

Well with the number of times Trump has said he wants a shutdown, it’s clear he has no desire to go to work. So likely not long.

I can guarantee that Obama never once wanted the US government to be shutdown, but Trump on the other hand...
