I'm sensing a large amount of cognitive bias here.
In regards to Jussie Smollett, the only reason this has gotten so much coverage is
A) He's a Celebrity
B) The right is so desperate for any kind of "Gotcha" moment that they can get and are milking the hell out of it.
People lie and make up crimes all the time! This isn't a left or right wing thing. It's an idiot thing. There is literally nothing new about this. The only thing that has changed was that it was a celebrity so it caught extra attention, and the right wing is still splooging themselves over it.

Appears as though he won't be a celebrity for long. Latest news is that he will be removed from the show "Empire". Personally, I don't think something like this should destroy a career. People should be allowed to be idiots in their private lives unless they are felons... then for sure, boot 'em out unless you want to try to help restore your fellow man.

This made me laugh. After the far left and celebrities, desperate for a "Gotcha!!" moment on Trump, were handed this "hate crime" complete with MAGA hats and MAGA country, they pounced on it and made giant fools of themselves, milking it to the extreme as just further "proof" of how terrible Donald Trump is. Then it blew up in their brainless faces. And now the Right is "milking it". Good grief. This is propaganda 101. Accuse the other side of transgressions that you've already committed.
