Why should people be forced to endure a lifetime of pain and suffering because some feel that life is some sort of special gift to be clung to at any cost ?

Our lives are truly no more valuable than any other living creature when it comes right down to it...and we sure as heck don't force animals to suffer the way we force humans.

I don't know about all countries that have this available but I believe in the Netherlands they have to get the OK from a panel of Doctors before they can. Depression is not an acceptable reason.

Most people wouldn't need assistance to commit suicide, they are perfectly capable of doing it themselves. The only purpose of a suicide clinic would be for those who a) don't want to continue living and b) can't manage to physically do it themselves. Most severely depressed people wouldn't need the assistance .

That's not true at all.
There are very few sure fire ways to a quick, painless suicide.
The vast majority of suicide attempts fail...resulting in even more pain and suffering.

And yes, severe depression that treatments have failed is a valid medical reason.

I don't know why you didn't just google it, unless there's a broader point you're trying to make. And the article sheds no light on your question.

Doctor-assisted suicide is perfectly legal in a handful of countries, Switzerland and Belgium among them. From the research I did on your behalf, those two countries have the loosest laws around who can receive that service, and the process they have to go through first. Apparently "suicide tourism" is a thing now. Interesting.

Do you honestly believe that your average middle class seriously ill citizen knows the names and locations of the nearest fentanyl dealers in town ?
Then there's always that pesky matter of being arrested for buying it if you get caught...because nothing improves one's life more than jail time.

My teenage kids could have asked any number of people downtown (just as anyone can) on where to access drugs, it's not that complicated. If buying these drugs in lethal amounts was likely to lead to an arrest and jail, why are there so many people doing drugs and dying from it? So once the drugs are acquired and injected, do you think these people get thrown in jail for a failed suicide attempt? No, they get their nalaxone, maybe a trip to the ER, and then they are released. So even if first time is not successful, sooner or later, they will succeed.
