I think the largest is in a little hamlet called "Birch Island". If not the largest, it is definitely up there (and as far as I know, unmined).

This is a lot of uranium in the Okanagan. The Town of Oliver has to replace some wells because of uranium content.

The document I found online pegs the Blizzard claim (near Beaverdell - only one I could find after an admittedly quick google search) at 334.837 hectares http://www.santoy.ca/i/pdf/BlizzardAug05.pdf

The Rexspar Deposit, according to this site http://www.yellowheadecological.org/uranium/proposal.htm says
The estimated size of the “Rexspar Uranium Deposit” is 3, 125 hectares (about 7000 acres), but may actually be up to 8000 hectares.

A guy I knew from the area, was named "Bubba". <cue the Deliverance soundtrack>

In Beaverdell, they are ALL named Bubba.

Check out radon sites such as this if your interested in information on radon in your homes or work place.

http://www.radonaware.ca
http://www.bc.lung.ca
http://www.c-nrrp.ca
Canada’s current acceptable levels are currently set at 200 bq m3 (changed in 2007 from 800 bq m3)
USA is at 148 bq m3
the world health org is set at 100 bq m3

there is a correlation to improving our homes in terms of energy efficiency and an increase of radon in our homes.
IN the winter when the ground is covered in snow and frozen, our homes become the vents/chimneys for this and other possible ground gases to be drawn or sucked upwards into our homes or buildings. Our houses suck! testing is more effective during the winter months.
If you have a teenager living in a basement or a suit, you may want to check.
3200 deaths per year from radon induced lung cancer in Canada.

I think the stats currently indicate that 16 % +- of homes in Canada have elevated radon problems.
This is based on limited testing and I believe Prince George is an example of how their numbers are around 30% of homes. I suspect in many areas as more people test the percentage of homes discovered will change the current stats across Canada.

Looks to me like a number of companies selling a very expensive fix to a simple problem.
Not to make light of the dangers of Radon, but all they are trying to sell you can be done with a fan and an open window. If your house has "thermal mass" it does not need to be so airtight that radon becomes a problem.
We're lost but we're making good time.
