Hi Queen K! Just wanted to correct this comment. Not anti government. Just against Bigger Government. Soon, well have a Socialist/Communist state.

No matter where you post from.
No matter what, cyber co.'s are now obliged to share with the US Gvt.

As in the Boston bombing case, this could be a good thing.

For the rest of the usual paranoid, anti big gov. types, this is not a good thing.

In my opinion the US peaked just before 1980, when Reagan got elected. "Voodoo" economics took over (Ronnie was such a good salesman that voodoo economics is still alive and well today. The top tax rate went from 70% all the way down to 28%. Clinton tried to redress the inequity, and there was hope for the middle class. But then came president Cheney and his "Charlie McCarthy" doll Dubya.

Milton Friedman was such an idiot, but also a good salesman. Too bad what he was selling was an illusion and didn't come with a warranty. But then con men never do offer warranties.
The middle path - everything in moderation, and everything in its time and order.

Ave. Joe, I said "gvt" and I meant it.

And here's a new one. Millions of Americans too broke to even have a bank account. And because they don't have a bank account, absolutely every service they need costs more and more and more.

Is this normal in Canada too?

haha No worries - I don't offend easily at all. Nobody can offend me better than myself, anyway. ;)

@ the actual topic: I don't think it will be a collapse, so much as a long slow fizzle out. Maybe a "collapse" will come after more time has passed, but not until the end is already well in view anyway.

fizzle is the operative word. china is paying cash for everything and the US is doing everything on military credit. something will have to give.

The US is going to be in supreme doggy doo doo when things reach the point that they lose the privilege of their dollar being the worlds reserve currency.

The only reason they've managed to stay afloat is because as the world's reserve currency they just print money like there's no tomorrow, to the tune of about 90 trillion dollars a month I believe.

They simply can't continue to do this indefinitely, plus with interest at .25 percent there isn't much lower to go.

The unfortunate part is those of us north of the 49th parallel are going to be feeling a lot of that pain too.

I'm sure there are those that will scoff and make mention of conspiracy theory and such, but the fact is, many dominoes have already fallen, and more inevitably will. Think Greece and how people woke up one day, just mere weeks ago, to find their money in the bank was suddenly a lot less than they had before.

I just noted the title of this thread and figured I'd add on to it, rather than start another, so not having gone through all 20+ pages I don't know if this has been shared or not in here, but I listened to some of it last night and feel that one would have to be in utter denial to not agree with much of what is presented.

I didn't watch it all because the delivery was so boring, but what I watched I agree. I have been saying for years that the Greenback is the most overvalued currency in the world.

Looked like a typical sales pitch using fear as a motivator. Take some simple truths and spin them to make people feel they must have the rest of the story that is so often referred to but never revealed unless you sign up for the "free" booklet or report. Ya right......the bait leading to the switch. I especially loved the secrecy at the end of pitch about the one asset that anyone can easily own that will ensure your financial well being when the monetary crisis hits. It is not stocks, bondsor gold either. Anyone have any guesses? The Mormons say sugar is one of the best items to own in times of crisis as a barter item. My guess is bullets.

I posted this in another thread, but it's probably more appropriate here... a sign of the coming American recovery:

http://www.businessweek.com/articles/2013-02-21/a-phoenix-housing-boom-forms-in-hint-of-u-dot-s-dot-recovery

Housing prices are up in 88% of metropolitan areas around the US including Las Vegas, Miami, and even Detroit. Phoenix saw prices climb by almost 23% last year alone.

Houses oversold in those areas so it is justified. When a house goes from $60k to $120k is understandable. But, they are not going from $300 to $500k.
