I thought if viruses can pass easily from monkeys to humans I expected AIDS to as well. Pays to keep learning.

Food for thought to be sure. The Simian background makes sense, but it could also qualify as a "convenient" explanation were it true that the pandemic was indeed sparked by human action, nefarious or otherwise. You're right Fancy, nothing wrong with keeping an open mind.
