The teachers need to band together and acknowledge that the BCTF has gotten out of control, is BSing them as much as it is the rest of us, and needs to go.
The only way that can happen though is for these professionals to take action as a group, as it's been demonstrated that the lone dissenting voice will be dealt with by the BCTF in one fashion or another, actions true to form for the bully that it is.
With all the focus against bullying these days, we can only hope that teachers become smart enough to recognize the big bully with it's hand constantly in their pocket, masquerading as an altruistic benefactor.

Indeed, 36 of them to be exact, and every one of them pulling in around the 100k+ mark in salary, never mind any perks or benefits that come with the position.
Odd how George is so obsessed with what school administrators, who actually have to work, get for a salary, yet no outrage whatsoever where these leeches are concerned, in fact he'll go out of his way to defend them.
The only position I see these people as having, is the task of hanging onto their needless jobs, and justifying their own existence by whatever means necessary, which they do every photo op Lambert gets.

Who does not support teachers ,Their union sucks and it is affecting our kids.Its time parents and students boycott work and school for a day.

I'm not hearing anyone advocating for larger and larger classes but the hard and fast one size fits all rules for class size and composition are counterproductive. The vast majority of classes are a reasonable size and some classes are way below the optimum level but just as the BCTF never points out schools that have been opened or schools that have been expanded they never point out the small classes. They try to find the exceptions and portray those exceptions as the norm. Some of you get sucked in of course.

I believe all admins., BCTF included, are overpaid
And they should take a pay cut as an example.

The BCTF hierarchy and the bureaucracy to support it have grown out of control and they are now the tail wagging the dog. Time for teachers to do some housecleaning big time. The BCTF needs to stop being an arm of the NDP and get back to negotiating contracts for teachers. Teachers are forced to pay higher and higher dues to this organization and they're not even allowed a vote to select their executive. Shameful! BCTF membership should be voluntary but in the meantime teachers should demand that the BCTF downsize and stick to the basics.

As has been explained before, it is quite expensive to elect an exec.
province wide. It would certainly result in an increased fee and
usually produces about the same result based on other unions results.
But do round up some teachers, Urbane, and give it a try,
this, Spring.

If the BCTF stopped squandering millions on NDP bribes, they could hold democratic elections. It would certainly be much better for the teachers, and by extension, for the kids as well.

Not to mention extremely inconvenient, to actually get the input of each mark errrrrrrrrrrr........... member.
ETA: We live in an internet age now, and I have no doubt at all, that were it in the executives best interests to get each individual persons vote, they'd move heaven and earth to find a way.
As it stands they use it as a convenient excuse not to do so. I'd dearly love to see the true level of support the BCTF has amongst teachers, not the level they tell us they have, after resorting to intimidation to hush dissenters.
Simply disgusting the way they operate.
