Australia ditches hated carbon tax
Now it's BC's turn!

Prime Minister Tony Abbott, who made a pre-election "pledge in blood" to voters and business to prioritize growth above climate shift, delivered on his promise after independent senators with deciding votes in the upper house sided with his conservatives, following a power shift this month that ended years of domination by the pro-environment Greens party.
"Today the tax that you voted to get rid of is finally gone, a useless destructive tax which damaged jobs, which hurt families' cost of living and which didn't actually help the environment is finally gone," a jubilant Mr. Abbott told voters in a news conference after the Senate's decision.

Yup. The sooner they bring in the odd/even days for driving your car the better. Bring it on. (sarcasm off) lol

What do you expect from a government that refused to appoint a science minster?
"Science" is not even represented in Australia's right wing, pro development government. The government is made up of ex mining and oil & gas men.
Infact, Australia just tried to de-list 74,000 acres of world-protected rainforest so they could log it. The world courts spanked them.

thinking about before somebody came along and told

The globe is on a hot streak, setting a heat record in June. That's after the world broke a record in May.
The National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration announced Monday that last month's average global temperature was 61.2 degrees (16.2 Celsius), which is 1.3 degrees higher than the 20th century average. It beat 2010's old record by one-twentieth of a degree.
NOAA climate monitoring chief Derek Arndt said the record was driven by unusually hot oceans, especially the Pacific and Indian oceans.
Heat records broke on every continent but Antarctica, especially in New Zealand, northern South America, Greenland, central Africa and southern Asia.
The United States had only its 33rd hottest June.
Global temperature records go back to 1880 and this is the 352nd hotter than average month in a row.

So then how is the single mom with three kids in school supposed to get them to school? They just won't go on odd days? Why is it that every leftist hates poor people so much and just wants them to suffer, all in the name of a stupid unproven scientific hypothesis...just ridiculous.

Well, what I and all the Australian populace expected was for the Abbott government to remove the carbon tax, as this was what they promised when they ran, and obviously was supported by the Australian public as they voted for Abbott. The carbon tax was forced on the public by the previous boneheads in the leftist Labour party, who deliberately lied when they said that they wouldn't put in a carbon tax (taking a page from Gordon Campbell and his HST speech), and then put it in after they were elected, against the wishes and will of the Australians who never wanted it and knew it was stupid.
What makes me laugh here is that all of the radical nutjob leftists here always cry about "democracy" this and "democracy" that. But when democracy decides to get rid of an insanely stupid tax that was not helping the environment and was putting a huge strain on the Australian economy, all in the name of an unproven scientific hypothesis that just happens to be the darling pet project of the left, suddenly democracy sucks and doesn't work and is bad and the people are dumb and don't understand "science" and blah blah blah. I know that there is no end to the hypocrisy of the left, and once again we see it demonstrated in full force here. Democracy in Australia decided they didn't want a stupid tax on their carbon. So shut up, accept it, and even better, for once, have someone somewhere actually prove that CO2 affects the world's climate. So then maybe, just maybe, there is some justification for taxing CO2.

That glowing ball in the sky is at it again I see. Unless someone can prove that its something else that may be causing this "warming"? Someone? Anyone?

In the last decade or two people have really been pushing the "green" thing. By coincidence the global temperature has also stopped rising in that period. It might be coincidental, but then again...
