we thought we needed, and I didn't want to start repairing the stuff. So it went to the dump.
And some went to the recycle.
Some of those amps, tuners, integrated amps, speakers and so on from the 70's are worth some good money. I would check and see what they are worth before throwing out. A good site for information on older audio gear is AudioKarma. A lot of "old timers" over there with a wealth of knowledge!
Those volume controls that go bad? The volume pots on the inside need to be sprayed with a cleaner, that's it! Good to go!

^Great blast from the past! Thanks.
I grew up in the 70s and still remember when pennies bought candy. 2 for 1 cent.

As WW3 develops, no one is going to be dissing the "preppers." What have you done?

Polyester clothing that NEVER wore out, you didn't so much get a rash as abrasions from wearing it. NOT a skin-friendly fabric.
I haven't failed until I quit.

Re: Weird things from the 1970s
bought a used technics amp oh about 12 years ago. still works awesome hooked up to my 20 dollar car speakers in box
When i bought my 92 town car about 5 years ago it still had the tape deck. Rocked it for a few years until the speakers blew :( Replaced the deck with a brand new unit and speakers, was shopping around trying to find the best bang for my buck, spent 200+ on all four speakers and 200 bucks on the stereo, so i would say it was 400+ well spent :P
When i shop i look for the best bang for my dollar. I bought my technics turntable from my buddy for 40 bucks with a nice stand. I don't mind buying certain items used.
The 70's were weird but awesome

The old kenwood 9600 beats all of them . Unless you're talking Macintosh . I have a 9600 and would never part with it . They still fetch over a grand u.s.
