I had one of those swing bikes. Rode a rental one in California sometime around '76 or so.

My Pap found one at a garage sale and bought it many years later, It was fun to have.

Wasn't lucky enough to have a bike like that, would have been a rock star riding that down my block.

Wig Wags however were my favorite chocolate bar as a kid. A long braid of caramel covered in chocolate that was large enough to last last hours by pulling a piece off and saving the rest for later. Was even better if it had melted slightly from being in your pocket. :D

Wig-Wag's were great.
I didn't have the luxury of candy bars very often, but when I did get to pick one for myself, it was a Wig-Wag.
I also liked them for the "conservation" factor.
I would have to hide my saved potion from two older siblings though. That usually meant stuffing it in the potato sack in the cold storage room.

Cold storage room.
When was the last time I spoke of a cold storage room.

With a brown smear on the tip of your nose from licking the wrapper for good measure. [icon_lol2.gif]

Was so worth the risk though. The caramel would get soft, combine with the melted chocolate and create a goo that would seal your mouth shut. Good times.

Candy was a rare commodity for me as well but one year my father won 4 large boxes of smarties. Each box probably had 200 small boxes inside. This was mid 70's, was about 8 and as far as I was concerned I had died and gone to heaven. Coincidentally they kept them in the cold storage to preserve and rationed us 1 box a day. Back then you did what you were told and somehow they lasted my sister and I more than 2 years.

When we went to municipal water, my Paps and I sledge hammered a hole through the wall of the
cistern to convert to cold storage.

Weird things

Hair, lots of it...best part it was in places we wanted hair...lots of it..
Now we go ....*bleep* is our hair ? ?

I think it was PJ O,Rourke or one of his buddies, sent me a very nice letter once... My name /address looked like it was drawn on with a crayon. It came in a tan envelope with National Lampoon printed as return address, and on a NL letterhead... He complimented us on our tasteful mods done to a car we entered in the National Lampoon Car Crash Contest. One compliment stood out...he said, I particularly like the axe imbedded in the fender of the Beaumont, nice touch !!
And he sent a CarCrash button or two... Man we were pumped.
Gotta find that letter..
I'd like to help You OUT,
Which way did You come in??
