Man buns, also known as the d o u c h e donut :D

I certainly wouldn't be dating anyone with a man bun or a man purse..why, just why..get a backpack for gawds sake, the poor guy would be traumatized from me laughing at him non-stop. But we could also add skinny leg jeans and croc shoes to that list as well. But for some people it works, I guess :135:

His satchel is the only bag a man should have on his person.

Like any hair style, facial hair, fashion trend, accessory...

...there will be those who rock the eff out of it, and those who look completely foolish.

It's a combination of confidence on the part of the wearer and personal preference on the part of the observer. You'll never make anyone happy 100% of the time, so do what makes you happy!

I wear what I want, be it hair, fashion, or makeup. Whether comments are positive or negative are a reflection of that person's own interests. I'm not here to be aesthetically pleasing to everyone else. If I like what I see when I look in the mirror, that's all im concerned with.

Team Man Bun.

How is a hairstyle a social concern?

Human Hair, in all it's forms has been a Social Concern for quite some time...

"...Much like today, hair for the Romans was as much an expression of personal identity as clothes. Hairstyles were determined by a number of factors, namely gender, age, social status, wealth and profession. A woman's hairstyle expressed her individuality in the Ancient Roman World. How one dressed one's hair was an indication of who you were and what your role in society was." ...

and

"Beards augment perceptions of men's age, social status, and aggressiveness, but not attractiveness"

http://beheco.oxfordjournals.org/conten ... rr214.full

and

"Hair politics: What does your hairstyle say about you?"

"From 1901 until 2000, transformations of costumes were of an astonishing variation, covering almost all the possible options: from the classic Victorian elegance, to the long-haired hippies of the 60's, until all the possibilities that our imagination could embrace: punk, rastafari, skinheads, etc. The industrial and technological achievements, not seen before in History, so fast and with no interruption, were reflected in different hairstyles along the century."

Thoughts on Female Body Hair

"...Most women (and many men today do too) have issues with their body hair:..."

And this is not touching on the multi-Billion Dollar Hair Product and Services Industries and how they influence Men and Women AND children in today's society.

One case on point - how much 'hair style talk' has been expounded on Canada's Premieres i.e. - in ol' Steven and Justin?

Aren't man-buns oriental in origin? I'm thinking Sumurai of Japan or Ming Dynasty in China.

Historical and iconic examples of men with long hair using this style as practicality include:
**6th-7th Century BCE — Buddha of Nepal
**3rd Century BCE—Terracotta Warriors (China)

No. I could not find a man with a bun attractive. Bald is fine, but not a bun. But if some guy has one, he's not likely going to care if women (or men) find it attractive or not.
