Fixed it.
Okay, the only way that the Establishment wins is when people do not pay off their balance at the end of the month.
Or can not.
Or won't.
The Establishment has been there since banking began. Think "filthy moneylenders, medieval times, and who did what when."
If everyone went to cash only we'd notice a fiat money system, where a $100 buys you so little today. But with cards, we don't notice quite so much.

WalMart contracts out instead of paying janitorial staff well, and now they don't want to pay for cc services. Revenues must be lagging, and this might be the only way to achieve a YOY profit increase.

Learned how to use a credit card to my advantage when I was 21. Had Visa, Amex and MasterCard. MasterCard was dropped first 20 years ago and dropped Amex last year. I will tell you that the security measures with ALL VISA CARDS EXCEED both Amex and MC. Too many interest discrepancies with MC that they could not account for when questioned.

Visa defended itself in an open letter published in several Canadian newspapers, saying it offered Walmart one of the lowest rates of any merchant in Canada. But the world's largest retailer wanted more.
"And they are using their size and scale to give themselves an unfair advantage," said the unsigned letter.
Livingston said Visa presented what it considers a "very fair offer" but doesn't feel it is appropriate for Walmart to get a rate lower than charities, educational institutions and utilities.
"We are looking to do whatever we can reasonably do to help Canadians shop wherever they want to use their Visa cards, including Walmart."

Hmmm, Walmart may look like they're winning, but will shoppers really go elsewhere? Like, where? That's the problem, in small places like Trail, likely no where, but in other centers like Kelowna, maybe all kinds of other places.

I bought an automotive battery at WM. The boys in the back gave me the gears that they could not warranty the battery unless they installed it in my car for about an extra $50. I finally said, "Are you going to sell me this battery or do I need to go somewhere else?" The battery was the size and shape I wanted and the price was right, so I bought it anyways and they wrote "no warranty" across my bill, no refund. On the basis of my treatment by the 3 gentlemen in the automotive department, I will never, never, never go back, nicely done boys. Never have I been ganged up by such a bunch of bullys.
I buy all my batteries at Costco which they take back no questions asked, I love Costco. I will shop at WM only if they are the only retailer stocking the item of interest.

AND, you don't even need your receipt at Costco, the sale is recorded in your history attached to your membership card.

I will never get a Mastercard, because many years ago they turned me down (for no good reason since Visa was happy to have me as a customer and i pay my balance every month). So I will never use Master card.
I almost want to go to Walmart just to do this. Get a cart, fill it to the brim with items from all across the store. Put it all on the counter and then when they go to decline my Visa card, just leave it all there.

You almost want to travel to Ontario just to be a jerk to a retail worker?

It's funny what people are willing to do to try and make themselves seem righteous!
Men go home to their wives and brag about their big win at Walmart today?...LOL..."That's nice honey, way to go. You're such a strong man! Did you take your Viagra? ...Cause I'm really turned on how you stuck it to that salesperson!"
The customer complaining about a $50 battery warranty, they see the business as something not worth dealing with anymore.
The business receiving the complaint over a $50 battery warranty, they see the customer as someone not worth dealing with anymore.
Who wins? Neither.

You are essentially wasting your own time. If you never intended to purchase the goods, then Walmart never sees the loss. LOL. I barely have a free moment to post on these forums, must be nice to have the time to go out of your way to be a jerk to someone earning minimum wage.

It wasn't a $50 battery. It was a $50 installation/warranty of a battery. How would you feel if WM charged you $.50 to put the batteries in your flashlight, and if you didn't pay it and the batteries were defective/dead.......no return for you?
