Could we change the date of Halloween?
What if we moved Halloween to the last Saturday of October?
We could contain the festivities to one weekend. No weekend Halloween parties, then more mischief on the actual night of Halloween.
Schoolteachers would get a small reprieve from a bunch of hungover kids at school the day after trick or treating, as they will be this year.
I'm not overly familiar with the various historical origins of Halloween, and I'm not trying to start a debate about that.
Would there be any downside to changing the date?

Would make sense, but the date October 31st is so ingrained into our society it will never fly. We'd end up with thousands of people celebrating the holiday on different days. You'd be handing out candy all week!
hail Satan y'all

I would think law enforcement actually likes the current way better as the years it falls on a school night means less issues than a Friday or Saturday.

possibly but I think OP has a point.
Current:
Falls on whatever night. Let's say Monday. Monday night has a few extra calls nothing to crazy. But the preceding Thursday(college night party), Friday and Saturday (general Halloween themed nights) mean 3 'weekend' type nights that all have higher than normal crime etc....potentially
Proposed:
Last Saturday of month. One big night. more crime than other Saturdays but comparable to long weekend and all over in a night.
makes sense to me.

Also in support of OP
I don't normally open up on forums however I could care less about Halloween. That being said it is a huge thing for my mother in law. She absolutely loves it and her and the neighbor go all out.
She has had some cancer and other health challenges that making us quite concerned she is running out of Halloweens despite being young.
I would give nothing more for it to be Saturday, and not raining so all the kids come.
However it is Monday and raining. But still excited.
See you all on Bay Avenue tonight, you'll know the houses.

I say we combine all the holidays into one, and get them over with all at once. Have it July 1st to 10th, and call it Merry Happy New Thanks Easter Ween.
