I hear fireworks out there. downtown Kelowna that is.
This is our worst Halloween ever.
Not that we didn't have an invite.
It's email we got later.
Who's dressing up as what?

Re: Halloween: Best memory? Worst? Fireworks?
I'm sorry to hear that :(
My best memory for myself as a child was the bunny suit my mom made when I was 7. I remember going from house to house at top speed for hours, and begging pennies for the Unicef box. The haul of candy, and my favourite was always the caramel popcorn balls the lady at the end of our street made (back when we could trust food like that).
For my children, I think my best memory was the year we took the wagon around. Best because kids put their bags on it, or rested on it. I can remember hauling them home and grateful for the help. The moms did the walk and the dads stayed home to hand out candy - that's how we do it in our house. The year before I had kids flake out on me far from home, and I piggy-backed at least 2 of them at alternate times, the one walking would fuss and cry about how tired they were.
This year, both my kids will be going to friend's parties. They are taking care of their own costumes (yay!)

One year it was way below freezing out and son insisted on going out. He lasted for 3 houses and we went home! Not too many kids that year.
I got Married because I was sick and tired of finishing my own sentences.

Getting 4 year old son dressed up as a sheik with beard and everything for first Halloween trick or treating. First house we went to the father was sitting on bench by front door pretending to be dead and popped up with an ax and said boo. Son ran home crying and didn't manage to get a single candy that year. Fun fun...

Re: Halloween: Best memory? Worst? Fireworks?
Lots of memories - almost all good.
Some of my favorites:
- 1st Halloween I remember (5yo). Rounding the neighborhood with my cousins. I was dressed as a giant inflatable pumpkin. Also the only time I remember being scared on Halloween. Some neighborhood kids threw a string of firecrackers across the street. Startled and scared me good!
- MY last Halloween trick or treating. I was about 13 yo. It was fricken cold that year. A good -10* but OMG the northern lights were AMAZING! Just the perfect backdrop for Halloween.
- But the absolute best Halloweens have been coming each year for the last 5 years now as I take my boys around (now 6yo and 3yo). From proud papa showing off his 5 month old baby "pea in a pod" to the whole neighborhood, to a couple of years ago when my youngest (2yo)was just dazzled by the lake country fireworks, to last year seeing the looks on their faces as 1 ran ahead with his cousins and the other clutched at daddy's hand every time he saw a scary spider decoration - Halloween just keeps getting better!

Roman Candle wars and making screecharoo bombs,
I was so stupid so stupid....
My buddy lighting up a roman candle just as the cops arrive, no way to shut it off, panicked and hit the cop car with it.

We just got a leopard and a tiger.
The leopard said, "I'm a kitty!" So what do I give her? A kids chapter book titled, "The Mystery of the Catnapping."
Or therapy for life.

We usually get very few kids. 2 just before 6pm....almost 7pm and no one has arrived. Cleaned up the kitchen.

So far we have had approx 30 and hopefully more to come but it's pretty slow.
We usually get about 70-80.
