Re: One downside of social media and forums
Fvk, we've both been here a long time, I'd like to think I can sense an agitator, but I just don't see JollyGreenBully as one of them.
Show me the proof? I don't see it.

In this thread about women's rights and the march (page 9 in the thread), called me a bully and a liar (when my post had nothing to do with bullying and his comprehension was the problem, not my "lies"). His post served no purpose other than to start stuff with me, even though I have no clue who he is.

Doin well. I don't come here much anymore. I think I had like a 3 year hiatus at one point.
Goin to Hawaii in April and planning a trip for the fall... deciding on Costa Rica or Venezeula. Not sure which I want more.
In regards to the OP...
I've found not getting into arguments with anyone from the left side or the far right of politics on Facebook has saved a lot of my sanity. I consider myself a line straddler... there are positive things from both camps and I don't see why it has to be one or the other, so naturally, I get to anger both sides. It's daunting

^My post was in reference to a few months ago where you stated you're in some sort of helping profession and want to shoot homeless drug addicts in the head. In a later thread about Trump, both you and GB called me mentally handicapped. But of course,I'm the agitator here somehow.....
When forum discourse starts getting into talk of murder and who is and isn't mentally handicapped (based on opinions) it's time to go. Have fun sniping at each other.

Ah, so because I am in a helping profession, you 1. call me a liar about it and 2. Just randomly insert a job title you make up? Makes sense.
Again, reading comprehension. I didn't say that I wanted to shoot homeless drug addicts in the head.
I clearly stated that I support the death penalty. I said that bullets are cheaper than jail (providing we got rid of all the repeated appeals and excess trials, waiting 15 years for the firing squad). Never once did I say that I want to go around and shoot all homeless drug addicts in the head.
I said that repeat drug addicts who abuse the system, don't want to change and continually break the law, hurt people, etc... would be better off dead. Perhaps you can't see the difference in the two statements, but it IS pretty clear.
I expressly said people who want to get help, try to better themselves, kick the habit, etc... deserve all the help we can give them. Criminal recidivists due to drug abuse who have no regard for anyone but themselves and their habit are a drain on resources and create more victims.
If you think those opinions are justification for your petty "sniping" as you say... that's cool. Just don't try to take the moral high ground in other posts.

the internet is a really big sandbox, and everyone gets to play and have their say...even you. but if you feel hurt, snipped, or "instigated", because some anonymous poster questioned your ideas on castanet...well, lol, you might have bigger problems in life

I was willing to give JGB the benefit of just being cheeky, posting a statement such as this giving the subject and tenor of the OP and succeeding posts . . . maybe I shouldn't have.

Time to take a break with a self-imposed ban from social media, and forums when you realize your own posts and vents fuel the inner frustrations and sense of helplessness more than boost the spirit, optimism and hope for humanity and the future of this planet of ours. Beam me up Scottie
You could also just avoid the "serious" topics like politics, religion or anything else that usually gets you worked up more than other issues.

I am a centerist, I see both left and right as having positives. Such as supporting capital punishment, which I see as a conservative idea and yet supporting harm reduction, even though I question it, as a liberal idea. I have no problem embracing the best from each side. It's when Rwede accuses me of being a "commie" when in fact I had a store at one time, that I'm a bit miffed.
And as for your travels, man, I'd be in a hard spot to choose between Venezeula or Costa Rica too. Is Venezeula safe? Or do you want to play it safe? Costa Rica is more expensive, but with their good infrastructure and stability, there are some good points there too. Only the Big Isle of Hawaii is of interest to me, for the volcanic activity, I hope you let me know where I can see pix.

Our family has been going to Cuba before the Americans ruin it forever. It is a wonderful visit, a lot to see and actually very safe. Just my 2 cents.
Consider how hard it is to change yourself and you'll understand what little chance you have of changing others.
The happiest of people don't necessarily have the best of everything, they just make the most of everything that comes their way.

The upside, I received a Facebook Notification of a Live Streaming Event.
I just got to be part of The National Roadster Show that was taking place in
Pasadena, California today.
I never would have been able to see all the stuff "n" things that this show presents.
As well as the interactions the presenter had while filming, he seemed to know
everybody.
Also a good personal connection with a great many of the vehicles, and their owners/builders.
I really enjoyed it, although it is better exercise walking around such things in person.
For those interested, type "Amazing Rides" in, go from there.

I did that and just got porn websites.

Um, you might have a point there.
Another down side? You're talking on the messenger portion with a friend someone says, "dinner is ready!" Damn, and we were just discussing good dress shops. Or cats. Especially cats. Like dinner? What NOW?
