Because the arts are not allowed to own vast swaths of prime property with no requirement to pay property taxes.

Not that it matters. The point he's making is that some artists get public funding while others don't. Separation means the state doesn't give different rules to different groups.

I'm in favour of arts funding myself (CBC, etc.), but others like Dennis aren't. I posted this for them, not for me.

Church and Arts are apples and oranges ...

Someone can like many different types of art, but have multiple gods and all of a sudden you're pagan and running from the peasants with torches ...
