These posters certainly do not appear to be inclined to give contrary or opposing viewpoints much thought – which, of course, helps to explain their disdain for the value of getting an education

But Ka-El.
Surely you must see your post above only serves to drive people deeper into their entrenched positions?
Anyone on the right can turn around and repeat the exact same thing back at you substituting "right" with "left".

There is no end to it....

I believe you are absolutely right Leifer. Extremists from both the left and the right are going to be entrenched in their positions no matter what information they are presented. That being said and recognized, there is no harm done in exposing discrepancies promoted by either side. It is, after all, the centrists and swing voters that most often decide elections, and it is those people who are going to be at least somewhat more inclined to challenge whatever preconceived notions they might have. Having no partisan loyalties, they are at least less afraid to consider contrary ideas and maybe even change their mind. However, the one thing we have observed on these boards is the exclusive strategy of the right to minimize and devalue the worth of scientific research and/or an education - presumably as it is evidence from history and research that most often contradicts their positions. Of course, if you disagree with that you must be a communist.

It might seem that way for some folk. But in fact, what really happened was a failure of the Democratic Party to nominate a more suitable candidate, and the failure of the Party to motivate and mobilize voters for election day.
