We shouldn't continually analyze everything from the past to today's political environment. Let's just carry on and stop going too far in the overthinking, takes too much fun out of everything we knew and in our innocence enjoyed.

There are things which were innocent but are deeply offensive. I learned the relatively offensive version of "Eeny, meeny, miny, moe" and honestly, I don't think I, or those who taught it to me were being intentionally racist, but that doesn't mean that if you do teach your kids the offensive version, or even recite it today that you are not being so. Context matters and what was innocent at one time may be considered deeply offensive at another. This isn't a matter of overthinking things, this is a matter of being respectful. Honestly, the only people I hear complain about this one are those who are either closet racists, you know the kind, the ones who start sentences with "I'm not racist, but", or those who have no real idea of what it is like to be significantly discriminated against. Once upon a time this was innocent:

That said, there are things which are taken too far and often ignorance or silly behaviour is mistaken for malice. It's not the word or words that matter, it's the context or intent:

Some may view my above politically incorrect opinions as 'harsh' and may even be offended by them. Some think political correctness will be our undoing. Save the planet, spay or neuter your kids.

Yup. She's into some kink, but she doesn't feel comfortable asking her husband. :200:

That's why they invented automatic coffee makers.
So guys could figure out how to make coffee for themselves.
Problem solved.

"dressed up like Eskimos". I didn't know that the word was viewed by some as offensive. Did some research. It is only considered offensive in Canada and Greenland. Even the Eskimos don't widely view it as offensive. It does however depend on who is using it. They say that "All Inuit are Eskimos but not all Eskimos are Inuit".

I can't keep up with the list of shiiiit folks get their panties in a wad about. Oooops! Is that OK?

Using cash is one of your few forms of privacy: use it or lose it. 1984 isn't the only Orwell novel that needs to to made fiction again.
