What has gotten BETTER about living in BC?

Post by Hermes »

Lest we be accused, and rightfully so, of being cranky, consider what is much better now than twenty or forty years ago.

What pops to mind is the internet and living longer. But hey, that doesn't count, because that is more or less global. What has gotten better in BC or even Canada?... I have to think because by nature as an aging man I am nostalgic.

Hmm, more bicycle-friendly roads. Better public transit. More public accountability of government? Less police brutality. I am grasping at straws here. Help me out. Try to think of something that is not a 'double-edged sword', something with no downsides, that is unique to Okanagan or BC. There must be one or two things.

Increased protection by government - [imposed over-regulations on every aspect of life]

No more "Rush Hour" traffic - [congested roads at all times]

More/Longer interaction with our children
- [can't afford to buy their own place]

More/better devices & gizmos
- [screen addicted zombies]

...feel better?

Happy to help

I haven't lived here for 20 years, but I can say that my life got better after I moved to BC from the Prairies. It's a great place to live!

I’m happy the liquor stores are open late 7 days of the week. Nothing is more first-world-problem than having to buy a weekend worth of booze in a 30 person deep line at the LCBO or Beer Store in Ontario the day before the long weekend.

I don't think a single thing has gotten better anywhere in BC!
Greed, Corruption, and the "me" society has taken over!

Within the last couple years BC Disability went from $906 - $1185

UBC Okanagan and all the great research that is done. Anyone can participate in various studies and there's even medical students giving dirt cheap mental health and weight loss classes

I do love the new license plate options we have

Vancouver is becoming an amazing city to visit.

YVR and YLW have experienced some serious growth over the last years.

Lots of great wineries and craft breweries have popped up.

Being able to purchase some alcohol at some grocery stores (its a start).
Nobody wants to hear your opinion. They just want to hear their own opinion coming out of your mouth.

Beautiful nature all around us with great national parks.
A place to live where farm fresh fruits and vegetables are just close by.
Great family and love.
Great opportunities as the City grows and new and exciting entertainment opens.
