Oh good - you're back, now you can answer the question I directed to you a page back

So Kilohotel, Jflem, please, explain to me why this (AR15) is the go to weapon for mass shootings.
Nobody wants to hear your opinion. They just want to hear their own opinion coming out of your mouth.

Well, raising the minimum age to buy assault rifles and enhancing the process for background checks will probably have a (very) small impact on gun sales. In response, the NRA has once again attempted to deflect and turn this into a second amendment argument because they know many of their base supporters are dull-witted enough to fall in line behind that.

The New Yorker https://www.newyorker.com/news/news-des ... nd-florida

Pretty detailed eye witness account of the funerals. And the telling "Parkland is affluent" line. I guess there is nothing like people who actually got the education they paid for.

Florida Gov. Rick Scott signs sweeping gun bill; NRA files suit

TALLAHASSEE, Fla. — Florida Gov. Rick Scott signed into law sweeping changes to school safety and gun access Friday — a measure crafted in response to the Marjory Stoneman Douglas High School shooting.

And almost immediately, the National Rifle Association filed a federal lawsuit to block some of it from taking effect.

The new legislation raises the minimum age to buy rifles from 18 to 21, which the NRA claims violates the Second Amendment.

The law also extends a three-day waiting period for handgun purchases to include long guns and bans bump stocks that allow guns to mimic fully automatic fire. And it allows some school staffers to be armed.

<snip>

Among other provisions of the new law:

— It allows the arming of school staff who are not exclusively classroom teachers, including librarians, media specialists, coaches and counselors. The program is optional at the discretion of county sheriffs and school district superintendents.
— The measure provides $400 million for mental health and school safety programs.
— It requires every school in Florida to have a threat assessment team to meet monthly.
— It establishes the Marjory Stoneman Douglas High School Public Safety Commission, which will investigate systemic failures in the Parkland school shooting, and develop recommendations.
— It creates a new legal process to take firearms from people who make violent threats to themselves or others.
— The measure provides $400 million for mental health and school safety programs.
— It requires every school in Florida to have a threat assessment team to meet monthly.

threat assessment team.
That sounds useless. Of course the NRA has to file motion they want their members to keep paying dues :)

It was staged by some deranged kid, allowed by sloppy regulations to acquire ten weapons including an assault rifle, probably for attention and or revenge.
Which is what they are trying to prevent by restricting assault rifles, children buying weapons, and mentally unstable people acquiring a weapon. Such people are not that hard to pick out (just read some of the garbage posted on castanet), they ar the ones threatening to kill people. They are difficult to regulate with the previous regulations. Not only was nothing done, but it appears that nothing could have been done under previous sloppy regulations.
Trump signed a bill about a year ago that prevented restriction of weapons being sold to people with mental disorders. Result is what happened in Florida. All the red flags were there, but godforbid we should stop mentally unstable maniacs from shooting a bunch of innocent children.

What ?!?!? And risk the loss of a relatively miniscule amount of gun sales because those duped by the NRA can't even figure out what the debate is about. No, let's just give guns to every single American and let them sort it out themselves.
