Our children are grown up, but when they were young we took the financial hit and she became a stay home mom. It was what we both wanted, not just one of us. The deal was, if she wanted to head back to work she could, no problem. She ended up going back to work part time when the girls were in higher grades at school and were a little independent and now works full time.
As for her pension and such things, she's getting half of everything no matter what, so we both took the hit, but we knew that 22 years ago.
There is nothing wrong with working moms, but there also nothing wrong with stay at home moms.

We both share house duties but I think I do the bears share because I'm home more.

I don't believe in looking back with regret. The choices you made were the ones you likely had to make at the time with all things taken into account. My wife was able to stay home for about eight years in my kids lives then it became necessary for her to go back.

I liked it when she was home and she did too. I carry some guilt for not being able to continue down that road.

I don' t know for certain if kids are in fact better adjusted when they have a parent at home. I think that kids can turn out sheity either way,

I do think though that if given the choice with no negative financial impact that can't be withstood, I would have loved for her to be there until they were more independent and if she decided to go back to work, it would have been her choice.

I would imagine it would be nice to be stay home when you have small children. Prolly they work harder than if they were out "working" elsewhere.
Loved the brief time DH was stay at home, my that was luxury.
Besides seems the more you earn as a couple more you spend.. yes even those who are watching their pennies manage to get away to Mexico, etc.
Heck I want a stay at home Wife! Please

The way your question is worded.....It's not about what a man wants anymore as soon
as getting deeper involved with a woman.

We knew, and agreed, that we did not want our kid in a daycare, we both made big
changes to allow that.
A home base business that fit a nice solid little market for her,
with back-up from me.
Me, moving into a position that landed me at home daily, that
allowed me to be involved.

Plenty of play, tonnes of work, many lessons learned.

Not really the way to pull off being filthy wealthy but our offspring
are well recieved.

I worded it to be on the mans side, from his point of view.

kind of an unfair poll i would prefer to leave it up to my wife if she wants to work or not assuming we can afford to do so

It's just a poll, how is it unfair? I was asking men. :135:

Yes, I want her to stay home.
Yes, I want to stay home.

Sometimes we may even want to stay home at the same time.

I'm not talking about mens' most secret desires, I'm asking if men ever sit in the car/truck/SUV and think, "it's too exhausting for both of us to be working, I wish she'd want to stay home like I want her to stay home."
