Capital Punishment Concoction

Was reading the story this morning regarding the death row inmate in the US who hung himself in his cell. The inmate wanted to die but his execution had been repeatedly halted due to arguments over the lethal injection concoction the courts have approved in the US for execution. The argument, as we've heard many times before in recent years since this new lethal formula was introduced is that it may be inhumane. It may subject the recipient to suffocation, etc. For a minute, skip the obvious moral or emotional arguments that may prompt some to say "Who cares??? If someone kills someone, especially in a particularly aggregious way, why should we care if 'they' suffer???". Why do they not simply prescribe the same concoction used in assisted suicides. I haven't heard of these formulas failing. They put the recipient to sleep, are painless and work quickly. They also appear easy to administer. Surely this would solve the problem, no?
