I like it!!

My preferred method is after listening to the callers long winded first sentence I ask them what they are wearing.
It throws them off and they end up hanging up on me. [icon_lol2.gif] [icon_lol2.gif] [icon_lol2.gif]

I do the "Hello. I am Milke from Microsoft. We noticed there are issues with your computer..." with a very thick East Indian accent, just like the hundreds of calls that I received like that over the last few years.

I got a better one. Many years ago (before I was in the picture, but that doesn't factor into the story)

My wife's, at the time 17 year old daughter, answered the phone to one of these telephone solicitors. They had been plagued with calls. She was home alone. The caller asked for her parent, to which the 17 year old said, "she's having sex right now can you call back in an hour".

(Correction)
The daughter said, "she's having sex".
The caller asked "how long do you think she will be ?"
The daughter said, "oh at least an hour"

About an hour later they called back !

I had another good one.

One of the calls saying id won a trip. (was an actual person, not a robot)
I pretended to be elated on the phone with excitement. Then when they started trying to get my credit card info (you know, to secure the free trip [icon_lol2.gif] ) I mentioned that I didn't have a passport and wanted to enquire about switching the trip to within Canada.
They didn't like that idea and I began to tell them how unfair it was that I'd won a prize and could not change destinations or send someone in my place.
They eventually hungup on me. :130:

I've seen that a few times and it never fails to make me laugh. I wouldn't even care if it was a sketch - it's done to perfection.

When I get spam calls I automatically block them, realizing that they often call again from another number, but then again I've found that once I block a specific caller four or five times, the calls do tend to stop, which suggests that yes they have multiple phone numbers to pester us from, but not an infinite amount.

That is the video that inspired me to start my anti-scammer crusade. Ever since I saw that video, I stopped being angry and started having fun with these guys.

I love that video.

Bumped

Be on look out for scam etransfers.
Good friend received a text about an etransfer sent to him, he did not click on link since he did not recognize the cell number.
Turns out no one he knows sent him a etransfer, so just be careful of texted etransfers.

Newish twist to these calls.

First 2 questions:
Are you over 27 years old?
Is your household income over $50k per year.

And, I got one the other week that wanted to know where I was employed when I used to work, before I retired.
Hung up as soon as I asked why they wanted to know.
"THEY" are watching you! -- "THEY" know who you are! -- "THEY" know where you are!
Always use heavy duty BBQ tinfoil under your Black Hat - That way "THEY" can't read your 'mind'.

My friend just received one while here visiting (text etransfer refund, he hasn't done etransfer in months).
