Id happily pay more for quality goods. I already seek out North American made used products as they last much longer than cheap new junk

For $60 you can have a new toaster every 4 years made in China. If you take the savings, invest them well, you could have a lifetime supply of new toasters for free.
I don't know how much toast you eat, but my $14 toaster has lasted me over 8 years, and it still works and looks as good as the day I bought it. I expect I will get another 2 years before I have to empty the crumb tray for the 1st time, and I predict that it will last me another 8 years.
By the time that 8 years is over, I will either be dead or unable to eat toast anymore.

and all that cheap China junk that doesn't last long ends up in our landfills...I remember a time when you bought something and it lasted yrs, maybe even decades...now everything has a life span of about 5 yrs or less..
