Wow! Amazon 1 day delivery!

Postby Bsuds » Aug 20th, 2019, 10:14 am

A couple of months ago I ordered a sheepskin seat cover for my 94 year old mother who has a difficult time sitting because of cancer problems.

It never arrived and I claimed for a refund yesterday.

I reordered another one which was eligible for Prime 1 day delivery.

It arrived this morning less than 24 hours after I ordered it.

Awesome! Her 95th birthday is next Monday and she will be very happy.

I've had similar experiences.

My only concern is the carbon footprint associated. Lots of fuel used by inefficient 24hr package delivery processes. Darn nice to get my stuff next day tho :130:

I'm a little tossed by this one. The new delivery service Amazon is using employs people in the community to do the delivery, but they're using their own automobiles! So, on one hand: More jobs, woohooo! On the other, it is doubtful the pay is actually enough to compensate for the wear and tear on personal vehicles. Also, are they correctly insured, etc?

i want a sheepskin that reduces your age by 10 years.

I would be willing to wait longer than one day for such a thing.

Yeah, and if you lived in an actual city like Seattle or Vancouver, most deliveries from Amazon would be like that. We're unfortunate to be away from distribution centers.

I was doing a few deliveries last year and went to renew my insurance.
I told them I was going to start deliveries in Kelowna.
IE skipthedishes, flowers, pizza, goods etc.
They told me that it would be about $58 more per month to be legal.
You will not be covered if you are doing food/ goods deliveries in an accident without upgrading
I did`nt start deliveries because I found out my replacement insurance on my vehicle would have to be be cancelled
to get courier insurance.

I am happy to get delivery in anything less than a week. I am used to waiting a couple of month for stuff to arrive from China. (If it does arrive)

I ordered 10 meters of waterproof LED string lights from Amazon and they were only about $3 more than AliExpress and I will get them in a few days.

Some stuff from China amazes me when it shows up in less than 10 days and other stuff takes forever.

My daughter delivered pizza for a while, and her insurance went up by about $40/mo (10 yr old car). Tips DO NOT make it worthwhile now that ICBC is taking mileage into account when calculating premiums.

Amazon uses a combination of Fedex and Purolator for areas away from the distribution centers. If you're close to distribution centers, then they hire private cars to do deliveries, probably costs less.

Would you say that Kelowna is near a distribution centre? What defines 'near' in this case? The name of the new company is 'Intelcom' and we have had the same driver 3x now. (I might have an Amazon problem)

That's who delivered here today for the first time. Amazon and FedEx are/have parted ways so this is what they seem to be doing now. Apparently they are starting their own service.

No, we're not. I believe Intelcom was either started by Amazon or works exclusively with Amazon.
