Socialists asking for socialism u dont say

Most Americans want tighter gun regulations, they are not all socialists by any means. ANd most americans support the 2nd ammendment. They don't want unstable people getting them, and they don't want high capacity war weapons.

When some people see the words AR-15, they think it stands for "Assault Rifle".

Actually is stands for Armalite Rifle - the name of the company which produced it.

All guns are assault weapons when used wrongly.

So is a machete, a steak knife, an ice pick, a rope, a car, a rock...... it is the user which makes it lethal.

Good post Laurane, I offer a link to support your post.

The “AR” in “AR-15” rifle stands for ArmaLite rifle, after the company that developed it in the 1950s. “AR” does NOT stand for “assault rifle” or “automatic rifle.” ... An assault rifle is fully automatic, a machine gun. Automatic firearms have been severely restricted from civilian ownership since 1934.

Just like an "automatic pistol" or an "automatic shotgun". They are just auto loading. They require a squeeze of the trigger for each shot fired. So is a revolver, it requires a pull of the trigger to chamber a new round. This is not to be confused with a "single action" revolver.

How many countries would send their soldiers into battle with steak knives, a rope, and a rock?
How many people do you think you could kill with a rock in three minutes before someone could stop you?

There are many who like to shoot targets with semi-auto guns, machine guns - they like the noise and the smoke and excitement
and if you haven't tried it, you probably can't understand that.

But just because these guns can kill in the hands of a crazy person, doesn't give anyone the right to take them away from law-abiding citizens. When you consider the tiny fraction of people who are wounded or killed by them compared to any other kind of violent death, infringing on the rights of a large number of gun owners because of the mental state of a shooter is wrong.

Handguns kill many more than those big black guns (which also come in pink) and nobody is trying to take them away - they are multishot and kill thousands in large cities every weekend in USA over a year.

A .gov which wants to institute a "buyback" when they didn't sell them to the owner in the first place, is just confiscating them at taxpayer expense......a gun owner has to pay twice then......just an added "benefit".

Actually that's exactly why there's a really good reason to take them away.
Just because some people think they are "fun" to use at target practice does not neccessarily mean they should have them.
Sometimes the greater good trumps ordinary people's need to play with the most destructive types of weapons.

Just another law-abiding gun-loving woman. Which would be fine if she didn't have the capacity to kill hundreds in a couple of minutes.
