Pitbulls loose in Glenrosa

Postby MommyOf2 » Feb 20th, 2012, 4:35 pm

Keep kids and pets close...
They killed a little dog at the back road behind Glenrosa Elementary just as school was ending and police and animal control are searching for them.

Time to look at a ban of the breed. And also time by way of my post to let the owners of this breed post saying how loving, kind, gentle and misunderstood they are.

There is no possible reason not enact a bylaw to rid our community of these precious pooches.

Let the ragers reply.

They should ban idiots first so animals of all breeds would have a better life.

Let's not go down the path of banning a dog because of it's breed, it's just not fair in a lot of different aspects. Owning a pet any pet is a responsibility and some pets come with bigger responsibilities than others.

Banning the breed is like saying all kids of single mothers (or fathers) will become criminals. That kind of blanket exagerated statement is bs.

I have to say i use to think ALL pitt bulls were "bad dogs" until my boyfriend convinced me otherwise, now we have a pitt bull cross and i would not say one bad thing about him.. well maybe the fact that he eats my socks but thats about it. I'm not saying what these dogs did was any way okay but dont base every pitt bull as if it was a killing machine.

You hit the nail on the head. Banning idiots would solve the problem, since nobody intelligent chooses a "misunderstood" dog when there are plenty of well understood dogs available. Unless of course the owner is looking for a tough image, see "idiots". But banning idiots isn't feasible, and banning the dog is - same end result anyway right?

That is very true!! In many cases it's not the dog, it is the owner. The little puppies are so cute, but there are responsabilities that come with them when they get older!

Before you go and make such comments, have a read...Its not the animal's fault...Its all about the owner!! Always has been, always will be...You clearly have not met the pit bulls I have...There's a nice bike shop over here on the West Side, there one pit bull who I ssume is for protecting their things, will lay on the ground, and just be petted and give kisses...

That shit-zhu could just as easily have attacked another small dog if he was trained to do so and truly "protect" his home...

I do not understand the mentality of people like this...

I always find it funny when the "ban the breed" people come out when something like this happens, where were you the other day when a Husky killed a little child, where was all the "ban the breed" comments?

Thankfully no children or adults were hurt. All pets need to be looked after like children, you can't assume they're secured in your own yard and I'm sure these owners have wished otherwise. That being said my heart goes out to both owners. They've both lost their pets, one to a tragic death and the others to authorities which I'm assuming the end results will not be a happy one. A sad day indeed.

This is a local tragedy - the husky and child were in the same home and I don't believe the circumstances have been released. This scenario is different as the little dog was on its own porch - extremely sad.

That's a very good point...And I hope some of these "pit bull haters" care to answer that...I've never come across one pit bull who I was afraid of...I've even wrestled with one, and never had a scratch on me...

In all these situation, its the animal that ends up suffering... Whether they're moved to a new home or put down...Sad that owners don't just take responsibility from the beginning and train them well...If you want a pit bull to be a killer guard dog, don't live in the city...Most city dogs, get out at least once...And if you've trained them to hate other dogs or children, they will do just that!
