Roundabout between Future Shop and Canadian Tire

Postby canvan » Apr 29th, 2012, 1:19 pm

There should be a round-a-bout on Butt rd where Canadian Tire meets Future Shop. This only makes sense, as it is, you can't turn left out of the Future shop parking lot towards the highway. If you want to go to Canadian Tire you have to turn right out of Furture shop and drive around behind Canadian Tire and back into that mall by Home Depot. It's not very practical.

Won't make things any better. Nobody in this city knows how to signal in traffic circles. They just drive without looking. Better off driving around the back of Canadian Tire...

That would have been a good idea. Instead we're getting these new developments on WFN land that don't mesh with each other as well as they could.

I was only thinking the other day that section of road has remained unchanged even though we now have more businesses and obviously more traffic, in fact would a roundabout help or hinder? I don't know. The short section of road between Sanoma pines and Hwy 97 is often badly backed up at certain times as very few vehicles make it through the lights to go straight ahead on Butt Rd and this wait time will have been changed again due to the new left turn arrow on the highway.
Also some people still insist to turn left out of Future shop and cause all manner of issues.

I would personally rather use the back road around Canadian Tire and stay out of that bit completely.

Why not use the back exit beside Winners? Hang a left on Carrington then you can either hang a left on Butt or continue to the next driveway on the left to get into the mall.

Please don't build anymore roundabouts. Nobody has a clue about them. Signal going in, and signal your intentions going out. How hard is that?!

You're not supposed to signal going in, only signal when you're leaving the roundabout.

Just to be clear, I do signal going in and out. But I seriously wonder why anyone, including myself, needs to signal going in. Is there any question as to where I'm going...? Are people actually watching me sitting there and wondering which way my car will turn? I'm going right because I CAN'T go left!!!

I do signal though, in case I have a rabid castanutter behind me with a camera. :127:

I pay attention to those that are signaling right - means my eyes are on the next vehicle that might turn into the roundabout ahead of me (which I've had close calls with).

I've seen people signalling LEFT as they enter the Butt Rd. roundabout and I wonder what they're thinking. I've driven in roundabouts in England and that's a bit scary, at least at first, but I like roundabouts. Whether it's roundabouts or something else, though, it's too bad that changes can't be made to make it a bit easier to drive from one shopping area to another around here.

I've been in roundabouts in other cities and have never seen anything close to how the drivers behave here. Shameful really. I think too the situation between Future Shop mall and Canadian Tire mall is dismal. The light going from one side to the other at the highway is pathetic too - not enough time to clear the intersection.

i can only see people stopping at the entrance to the roundaboot and then traffic backing up onto the highway during busy times so i must disagree with this idea.

Yeah, what's with that light? Why so short?
