Be careful what you wish for...remember we only get 15 plows included in the contract this year! Haha way to save money Mayor. What have we used to date I think 4 or so days this year already! Good lord this may indeed be a very long slippery winter!

I can only pray that no one loses their life because of these outrageous cutbacks to a very vital service.

Two things that got me thinking today.

1) It was a nice day and most of Westlake road was looking good with plenty of dry tarmac and the odd damp patch. The sun was out and yet i followed a sand truck all the way up who was dropping sand in places. It was a complete waste of time and sand as it was just not needed.

2) After reading the DWK info about reminding people to clear the pathways in front of their houses i noticed today when walking the dog that the only pathway that hadn't been cleared locally was the one in front of the DWK park!

I am not going to condemn the new company but I will say that there has been a noticeable difference in the quality of the work being done. It is definitely being done less frequently and the 2 foot deep pile of ice and snow left in front of my driveway the other day was not appreciated.

I seldom had a blocked driveway entry to contend with in the past and it was never much to deal with when there was a pile left behind.

I personally would pay much more than the 3% the municipality is looking at if I knew I would get a standard of service that is much better than what I am seeing now.

Have you noticed the junker trucks they are running? What a joke! I was told they have a history in Merrit and were ran out very quickly. At least Argo has proper large trucks and sanders.

i just saw a plow going down gellatly rd spreading sand on a dry bare road. it took them 2 days to make a single pass when we had snow but new years day when the driver is making double time they are spreading sand and wasting it.he was also plowing the shoulder and making a huge dust cloud cuz theres like a half inch of dirty ice if that.the trucks look like they were bought at auction world compared to the argo trucks. it makes me wonder what goes thru their heads at west kelowna city hall

Wondering if the district even makes sure the bid has sufficient equipment to do the job when they take the lowest bid job?

it wouldnt hurt these guys to put the blade down either . they seem to be leaving a half inch of snow instead of plowing it down to the pavement

It really is bad. I have no idea how to drive with these 'piles' of snow everywhere on the road??????!!!!!!!! In the middle of the road.
I have no idea how to drive when a person is coming at me and we both have no where to pull over for each other.
The ditch...well you can't. I almost got hit my the one truck I saw today...he was driving down the middle
of McIver...no plow down just driving. I had to actually stop. I got stuck yesterday. I have not been stuck in years!
This was on a main road. I have new tires. I have called and am just biting my tongue now.
I have no idea where to put a garbage can. I am just ...stunned...they do NOT have the equipment for this.

This was my post last night on Facebook. In regards to Glenrosa. Funniest thing. Was going to record on my phone but my battery died.

Funniest thing tonight. Watching the new snow removal company cleaning the Roads. 10 min in a cul de sac. Coming out *bleep* off then leaving about a foot and a half of snow in front of the driveways and spinning out as he goes. Then the topper was watching him for 20 min trying to go up a small hill. Thank you west kelowna for saving us money. Lol

Charging my phone tonight if they are going to grace us with their presence :dyinglaughing:

How quickly we forget, Argo used to come around once a week it seemed. So if your day was Wednesday and it snowed on Thursday you had to wait until the following Wednesday.

People will always complain about the roads, but the trade of is a lot more tax dollars. If the municipality hired its own roads crews to look after it could there be a savings? More overtime in years with more snow but less in years with less snow as opposed to a fixed price.

I actually can't complain about the snow removal here...The main roads are pretty good...And there's been a large amount of snow/rain that has fallen...lots of traffic, school back in, etc...They're doing pretty damn good...I live in a cul de sac and he came around this morning..Removed all the humps at the end of the driveways, sanded real good...Nobody will be getting stuck...
Things could be a lot worse than they are...
