We had one in Peachland too. I thought I was going to get hypothermia just watching from the docks!!
Not sure if I can post this here, but here is the video of the swim:

Thanks Gordon. The December 23rd ice swim was officially recognised by the International Ice Swimming Association (IISA) in January 2013 as Canada's first ever. Here's a link to the video of the swim..

Never one to rest on my laurels I set myself the target of completing a second ice swim of the winter. On March 2nd I attempted to swim 1.5 miles in 4'c,once again in Gellatly Bay. here's the video of the second swim:

Last week I was honoured to be appointed as one of ten international ice swimming ambassadors by the IISA.

Ice swimming is not for the faint hearted, I have a great support team with me. I spent months acclimatizing to the cold and had a thorough medical check including ECG and Cardio stress test before attempting these swims. Hypothermia can kill and should never be underestimated.

Thank you to everybody that has shown support of my endeavours and those that have shown an interest in my regular training sessions in Gellatly Bay.

Paul.
