Top town salary is $140,000 in Peachland
http://peachlandnews.com/blog/2013/06/2 ... 5-6-raise/
By comparison, the top position is paid:
$330,386 in Toronto (1st largest city in the country), or $0.06 per inhabitant
$313,188 in Montreal (2nd largest city in the country), or $0.08 per inhabitant
$324,110 in Vancouver (3rd largest city in the country), or $0.14 per inhabitant
$140,000 in Peachland, (683rd largest city in the country), or $26.92 per inhabitant
After a quick research I found out that Peachland salaries compares to other (I mean most) BC municipalities.
Then I found this interesting article:

Just the money and resources they *bleep* away by opposing that gravel pit makes all these ridiculous wages well worth it .
Gotta be the worst run town in the province.

From your link ...
I agree - its inexcusable.
B.C. ratepayers would have saved over $4 billion if local government spending had simply kept pace with inflation and population growth.
Bottom line though: it’s inexcusable for city administrations to tell their unionized workers on the one hand that the cupboard is bare and be happy with a one or two per cent pay hike, while on the other hand rewarding their top guns with increases of 76 per cent over five years as Victoria did with some.
It’s also less than honest.
I agree - its inexcusable.
