Re: Share your West Kelowna experience!
This winter I was getting back to my vehicule and spotted these deer in a field by this sign. Needless to mention it was pitch black outside. I drove back last week and now the field as been converted as a fresh cherry orchard I think.

Did you know that West Kelowna has the only waterfall in the Okanagan? I read about it on the tourism website and found it just south of the hwy close to the town centre (near the Dairy Queen and save on foods). There is the bridge you cross to view it just off gellatly road south by the community mailboxes at Glen Canyon. Awesome little hidden gem!

Re: Share your West Kelowna experience!
On the tourism brochure it says that West Kelowna is the only Okanagan community to have a waterfall just blocks from its town centre so my earlier posting was fairly accurate! Also the waterfall is 24 meters high!

Yes, it's the Powers Creek Waterfall in Glen Canyon. Looks more like a rapid than a waterfall because it's a gentle slope that goes on for a long time... but I agree, it's beautiful. The access is from the Exit on the Highway by Gorman's Mill then down Gellatly Rd. near the mailboxes by Glen Canyon Dr.
Peachland has Hardy Falls, which is a waterfall. I know there is also other waterfalls north of Westbank like example the Fintry Waterfall on Westside Road.
Here's a picture part of the Glen Canyon Waterfall:

It is so surreal looking at a picture of West Kelowna blanketed by snow when it is so hot out! Like in the middle of January looking at summer photos.

Re: Share your West Kelowna experience!
On the waterfall subject. There is also falls on westside road, Shorts creek. And hardy falls,
I am sure there would be lots of other falls in the Okanagan as well. Unless maybe they mean the highest falls in westbank?

For once in your life, please try to keep it positive, people. This is not a West Kelowna Slam Thread. Read the OP's post.

This is worth the read to compliment the Dunswaters story at Fintry.
I met his son after reading the book.He told me that he never new of his Dad's exploits as a young man and after the Great War settled in Vernon and sold insurance.Apprently he sent a few volumes of diaries back to his Aunts in the UK but, were lost.
