Let's hear the "keep your cats indoors" crowd now that there's a rat problem ;)

I found a dead rat in our backyard a few weeks ago and I'm guessing that maybe our dog killed it. It was a disgusting looking creature so rather than grabbing it I opted for a shovel and put it in a bag and disposed it in the garbage can. If you find a rat maybe try that approach before burning down your house -;)

had a few last yr living in the workshop...big smelly black ones...we used the bait (in small pvc pipe so no other animals can get to it) and that was a BAD idea...took forever to find the reeking smelly carcasses !! sure enough a few weeks later more came...so we used the traps with peanut butter and bacon and trapped 3 within hrs...went thru the whole outside area and sealed all holes, took away bird feeders, recycle etc...finally realized that they were living large on our neighbors open compost pile...he had created a pretty nice buffet for them...we asked him to put his compost in a sealed container (which he did) and havent seen one since....heaven help you if they make a place in your yard as a breeding ground !!

Ha Ha! Everyone let your cats out to kill rats.
If you can't see the flaw in this logic there's no helping you.

I live in Lakeview Heights and the neighbors and I have been trapping and killing rats for approx. 1 1/2 years. They have increased over the last 6 months. No garbage and animal feed anywhere around to attract them but they keep coming by the dozens. We have complained to RDCO and have asked if any other complaints have come in there answer is always no and they made us think there was no possible way we were catching rats. Its just mice your seeing. Big difference there! So its nice but not to have confirmation there really is a huge problem getting out of hand. You see them hanging in the trees at night . Scary and disgusting.

M'kay, we're going to have to shut the bridge down. Keep them on your side of the lake please.

Yes they have rats in Peachland. Homeowners also have cats. If there's too much rats, bring more cats.

problem solved thank you.

Thanks a lot Fancy! I'll dreaming of rats swimming across in droves and hanging in trees tonight.

I'm wondering if Mr. exterminator has had any of these examined to determine if they carry rabies. I know they carry a host of disease but rabies is most dangerous and can infect a lot of species of animals in a short period of time.

That is more likely a Muskrat and not a Rat.

Bah, it's like cow & milk cow... both are cows.

Rat and muskrat... the latter one gives perfume... it's called musk. both are still rats.
