If the owner did have insurance I could imagine what the premiums are since being outside fire protection area.
I don't give a damn whether people/posters like me or dislike me, I'm not on earth to win any popularity contests.

I fully support the position taken by the Fire Department. When you gamble on something happening or not happening in Las Vegas or Reno and lose your money, you do not go the the Casino later and say "I think I should get my money back" because there was no certainty that this (the fire) would happen.
You "buys your good deal (due to no fire protection) and you takes your chances".

I wonder what he did with the money he got from the school district for the Niel Bruce school? Or all the extremely expensive commercial property rentals behind the school. Boo hoo my house burned down where I don't pay TAX for fire protection.

Re: Family Home Left To Burn
At a public meeting of the Regional district held in the Peachland community centre it was clearly suggested that a simple RDCO fire hall be built in the Paradise valley area, fitted with a tanker truck and volunteers for a new Fire Department be trained to operate it. This was done recently on Westside road and began operation in 2000. It has been a priceless asset.
There was a surplus Peachland fire truck available at the time and it was later sold through crown assets disposal on line. Months later the great Trepanier fire took place , burning 4 homes and causing millions of dollars in damage.
The RDCO ignored the advice given to them and still do to this day. They also ignore the advice that lives are at risk should a fire move UP the valley!
What say you?

I say that there is now a fire boat for the Westside. Amazing what can be accomplished in a short period of time. And yes, there are surplus fire trucks for sale all the time on the BC govt website.
So what, becAuse its outside a line drawn on a map there's no fire department service? *bleep* are those folks paying taxes for?
They aren't paying any taxes for FIRE PROTECTION = No Service.
Those that pay for Fire Protection are unlikely to want to provide the SERVICE to others "out of town" for FREE

Re: Family Home Left To Burn
Wouldn't there be an uproar if they went to fight this fire and someone who was paying for the service had their house burn down cause the firemen were too busy!
My Wife asked me if I knew what her favorite flower was?
Apparently "Robin Hood All Purpose" was the wrong answer!

Re: Family Home Left To Burn
The residents of Trepanier tried to get fire protection but the Regional District insisted they need a new community water system that was going to cost each property something like $40,000 or something like that and so they turned down the cost of the Regional Districts way because they all have wells. I am sure the Regional District could have figured out something besides putting in a new community water system to be able to fight fires. Out Westside Road there is fire protection for properties who do not have a community water system and in fact that is what the Fire Chiefs excuse to buy a fire boat was all about, because some properties do not have a community water system but only have a well. The Fire Dept could fight a fire at one of the upper subdivisions without a community water system with the fire boat by hooking up pipe up the bank and the fireboat supplying the water to the pipe to supply water to a bladder. Westside Road Fire Dept has bladders that hold water and tanker trucks to haul water if there is no community water system.

No Proposed Water Feasibility Study
The Regional Board has received a report from staff on a proposed feasibility study for a water system to serve properties in the Paradise and Trepanier areas of the Central Okanagan West Electoral Area. Almost two-thirds of property owners in the areas that responded to an online questionnaire did not support the idea of establishing a community domestic water system that would provide fire flows. Based on the lack of support from the community, the Board agreed not to consider a feasibility study for at least three years.
