Jewelry and Jerky, who was that vendor?

Post by bazinga42 »

At the Westbank outdoor farmers' market this summer, there was a lady selling the odd combination of jewlery and beef jerky. We bought some of the jerkey and, it turns out, that was some of the best I've had! I want to get some more, but the market is closed. So just thought I'd post in case anyone knew who it was and see if she sells all year or just at that summer market.

Cheers.

You know... I've seen their building so many times and never even thought of stopping in for some reason. Now I will, thanks. (still would like to get more from the market lady too!)

Betty Hersey ran the Westbank Farmers Market, so she would know who that was.

In Okanagan - pioneer beef jerky is the best - but in Western Canada - it is Wilhauk Meats in Leduc Alberta. I bring back over 10 lbs for friends every time I come back from Alberta. They only have 1 flavor but wow. Simply outstanding. At 28$ lb - bargain. They hand pick each and every cow and have their own slaughterhouse. And garlic/cheese sausage... again - outstanding. Friends told me about and I sluffed it off - big mistake.

try Doug's Homestead in Hedley, not as good as it used to be but still dam good, and while there , pick up some pepperoni, could be free if you guess the right price.

Pioneer has good tasting jerky, But if you have ever seen there smoke room or the racks it all goes or the cleanliness of the building you may think twice.

also, they are the HIGEST price in town on EVERYTHING (even game cutting)

I cut all of my own meats and have been in MANY butcher shops and come from a farming background in AB.

Its funny though... I just bought a pack of Oberto original from Costco yesterday. Bleh. This morning I actually called the company to complain about the quality (they are sending me coupons so I can buy more of that crap).

Anything's got to be better than that.

Hi there, I am the Jewelry and Jerky lady from the Westbank Farmers Market. Many thanks for the compliment about my jerky it is greatly appreciated. However, I do only sell at the market during the summer. I have recommended to other customers that Pioneer Meats sell very good jerky. Hope to see you next summer - thanks again!

Aww, that's too bad! But thank you for posting. The Mesquite flavor of yours is a real winner.
