I've never used them myself ... we usually just go down ourselves and make a weekend out of it, but give it a whirl and see if its something for you :)

ACE Delivery - I use them all the time for delivery/ pickup all over southern BC.
Decent rates based on weight.

Check the phone book they are in there.

Should be overnight. Call for a quote.

I have, and their price for delivering a $199 console table up here was close to $200.

Have you done so recently, by chance? I've noticed that they are working on better shipping options but am not sure if things have improved a lot or just a little in that area.

Looking at this kgcayenne it would be worth asking a friend to go on a day trip to Ikea, it would not cost $299 worth in fuel (or shouldn't).

Nearest one is here: https://maps.google.com/maps?saddr=Vern ... ls&t=m&z=8

After thinking a little about it, I have decided that it all depends on whether I stick to the one item at the one store. It could easily cost much, much more by the end of the trip if I'm not judicious.

Of course it depends on what OP item/items are that he/she wants shipped up to Vernon. Also if you planning a trip to the lower mainland chance are one would do other shopping as well, so yes it could cost more.

The Ikea shipping rates are complete nonsense.

For example I loaded up my virtual shopping cart with several items I already own (so I know their size/weight).

There is a medium sized desk unit/work station, a large long desk (I use as a vanity), a very large upright shoe rack (solid wood cabinet type that stores about 30 pairs), a duvet and duvet cover.

The total cost is just over $700.00

To ship to my address in Kelowna = $349.00 ($1,050.98 before tax)
To ship to my parents address in Thunder Bay = $125.00 ($826.98 before tax)

Where in the heck are these items shipping from? The closest Ikea to Thunder Bay is in Winnipeg (twice the distance as Vancouver).

I miss the days of flat rate shipping. When I lived back home I got an entire bedroom set, a desk, and a rug delivered to my door for $39.99
