Oh Please oh please oh PLEASE let it be!

I see my tulips and daffodils stolidly hanging in there, I'd love to see them grow and bloom!

FYI - the Greenery is now open.

Anyone know the status of some of the others, like the one on Paynter?

Nice day and getting nicer.
Looks like those minus 8 nights are behind us?
If so, you should be ok for those peas Queenie.
I have hundreds of annuals left to start.
I better get busy.

Well looks like I'm prepping beds and planting peas and lettuce then this weekend. Might be able to squeeze in three crops this year.

What a nice day.
I'm all ready to turn the garden over.
I've been removing half the pond cover in the day and still covering it at night. I'd uncover it and start the waterfalls but the lilys have leaves sprouting and I don't want it to get too cold for them. Another week or so.
Lots more annuals to start...
Going to start my peppers in the next day or so and I'll start my indeterminate tomatoes in two weeks.
I haven't even started my leeks yet...
Ill do them tomorrow with the rest of them.
Tomorrow's gonna be nicer than today!

Boston ferns grow naturally on the floor of a tropical forest.
Light feeders. Like subdued/filtered sunlight. Need high humidity.
Don't put it outside during the summer here.
Bamboo is the easiest thing on the planet to grow.
Lots of varieties of it. Some can grow a foot a day.
A member of the grass family I think.
Some varieties do well around here.
Don't need a lotta care.
I'd put it where it can get a decent amount of direct light.

Fern: Got to look at a picture but they seem to grow natural around here and I know from before the natural do not take to transplanting. Maybe it is not Boston that I am seeing though... and yes I know they like water.

Do you know a bamboo that does not spread like weed from the root? I think I want the tall kind and maybe I will put it in a 1/2 barrel.... did this one time many years ago on the coast and it was a great display....

Love grasses! Especially Japanese Blood Grass and the Blue clump grass.

Nice ferns. Notice the irrigation that runs along the top of them.
Without that humidity they'll shut down and defoliate.
Lotsa ferns in Canada.
I know of a beautiful patch of fifdleheads, but they aren't in the valley.
If I was planting ferns I'd put them in the shade, and where they can stay moist.
I'm not sure of a bamboo that's not invasive.
Containing it would help.
I'm not sure how heavy a feeder a large bamboo is but no doubt it would enjoy its nitrogen during growth.
It's actually a remarkable plant.
I think it's neat that they use it for building scaffolding on hi rises in Asia.
Makes for neat flooring too.

I have some norfolks that I keep in during the winter and put outside during the summer. They have about one more year and they won't fit thru the doors.
I keep them on the north did, they only get morning and evening sun.
Wow, can they drink. I need to water them daily.
They started growing a month ago, I'm looking forward to getting them outside next month.

I'm going to dethatch the lawn later next week.
Gonna put it all on a 6 x 25 raised bed and grow spuds under it.
I can fit 125 plants in that bin. They'll have about 6 inches of clippings on them.

If your going to use any dolomite, nows a good time to get it.
Don't get the coarse stuff that has the consistency of sand, it'll take a year before the plants can use it.
Get the fine stuff that's like flour.
Sprinkle it when it's calm then dig it in.
It's a great source of calcium/magnesium, and helps buffer the low pH in acid soils, and helps with a magnesium deficiency.
Growers have it, and it's cheap.

I cleaned out, weeded and turned my raised bed yesterday. I'm going to mix in some amendments today and plant some peas and lettuce. Got a few nice cloves of garlic out of it first.

My goal has become to transplant plants which are in undesirable locations. Such as the Hollyhock in one raised bed. It's toast if he roots don't take but it's toast anyways.

Two roses must be moved.

A portion of a trumpet vine has to be trimmed and moved.

We are reclaiming damages from the work done in January. Perfect day to do it.

I started 1152 seedlings this afternoon.
Not quite finished yet, but got those done before the curling final game started.
I'm going to wait a week or two to start my tomatoes.

Nothing goes as planned. We are just barely making it to getting the gravel back on the landscape fabric for our makeshift sidewalks.

If the yard didn't get a fifty foot trench in January, I'd be way more ahead of this game.
